I saw your confusion at the "is that a woman or a man?" line. At that time the "long haired hippies" were the ones under fire from society. Instead of "pick your pants up" it was "get a haircut" So that's the reference.

I dropped by to say this too. In those days, long haired men were looked down on as "too feminine" in the more Liberal areas, and "queers" in the Conservative towns. It could get you assaulted or killed, depending on how the audience was.

@@viviandarkbloom100 oh stop it with the South bashing there's more racists in the north than the south, and that's a 100% fact, period. Chicago is the most segregated city in the US. You'll hear the N word being dropped in Boston Philadelphia Baltimore Chicago St Louis Minneapolis a LOT more than you will in any City in the south. Hippies and tattooed people, pierced people and others get judged just as much up north as in the South. Probably more. I know this because I've lived in Chicago, Dallas, and Jacksonville.

The fan who made this video got the date wrong. The studio version came out in '73. This is a live version from their 1976 album "Live Bullet" which propelled Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band into the national spotlight. This is one of the rare instances when the live version is more well-known and popular than the studio.

And the even more confusing part is that the 73 album was called "Back in '72" . But this is defo the better version of the song

This IS the official video. Yes, song was written in 1972. Studio version released in 1973 on the Back in '72 album. Popular in 1976 from the Live Bullet album. The video must have been created 1981 or later as that's when MTV launched, hence the need for videos, and when Bob cut his hair. Though the internet tells me this video might have been done around 1996 to coincide with his Greatest Hits album release.

You really need to smoke, relax, and listen to Bob. He is the best storyteller ever to grace us. I actually crossed #2 on my bucket list when I was blessed enough to see him in concert about 5 years ago. Bob Seger, Van Morrison , and Amos Lee are the men I “chill” out with. Amos Lee singing “What’s Been Going On” is an amazing song. Check him out. My #3 on my bucket list was to see Waylon Jennings but he died after we made plans to go see him. So cross off dreams from that bucket list folks. Even if it’s to see someone in concert!!! God bless and as always sending love and prayers from Wynnewood Oklahoma. Hug those boys and take pictures of the artwork they do with their new crayons!!!❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻

Bob Seger, one of the few artist who never had a throw away song. Everything is listenable and most everything is fire. Nobody changes the channel when Bob comes on the radio.
