This was a perfect season and somehow season 2 is even better. I also love the ending shot of Carmy looking over and Mikey smiling back across the table, It's so uplifting.

Since Mikey was already planning to commit suicide, he never intended to repay Cicero for the enormous sum of money he borrowed. Mikey was aware of the damage he was causing to the restaurant; (I remember Tina saying that he barely paid them or that they didn't even have napkins, etc.) He was intending on suicide, so he essentially utilized the loan as an inheritance for Carmy. Season one was fantastic, but season two is much better.

We see the mock up of The Bear restaurant in the first episode, hanging in the employee bathroom next to the toilet where Mikey had presumably hung it, when Carmy goes in to put on a bandage and take tums.
