A bit of an emotional rollercoaster I must admit. I was so glad to see you in my feed and then terrified to see mention of quitting youtube. I know others have said this - and I have too - there is no one like you on youtube - we've mentioned many times what makes you so special...you are the woman I wish I was at your age. Now at 60 I have many regrets and sadnesses as I have few years left and am "getting it" late in life- seeing you have "gotten it" at such a young age is so precious for me and it inspires me. I'll likely type more later but wanted to mention this as I quickly listened to the youtube answer and am now typing through tears...of gratitude. Wishing you all the very best.

Me too... Seeing her success in young age...admired how she Know what she really want to do in her young age. At her age i knew nothing. I don't know what kind life i love to live... I spent my salary for nothing... Now i regret all... And try from the zero point again... Feel so many fear of what would happen but a challenging too.

I have dealt with bullies by looking after my body first, after I became vegan I lost a bit of weight and at 56 I started following fashion for the first time in years. I am on a budget but I treated myself to some nice clothes that fit me and look current. I make an effort to go out every day for a little walk to the park or to the shops, to do that I have to walk past the miserable bullies' house and I always have a serene smile on my face, at first I faked it, now I really feel it because I love walking and being in nature so it makes me happy. I try to find something good every day that makes me appreciate life, which is so fragile (my best friend died last year), even if it's just spending time with my cat or watching the birds eating from the garden feeders. I have become a positive person after being negative all my life despite the fact that the bullying continues (sadly I have no control over that). I hope 2023 will be a better year for everyone!

I have the same situation. Why some people bully confuses me. I didn’t need to lose weight but gain it. Stress, allergies and stones in my gallbladder caused me to become skeletal. People made fun of the fact I looked ill. I am almost normal looking now and people respond better to me but I would rather enjoy my animals, my home, my family and my husband.

I left my last job as a cleaner in a care home five years ago. I had put up with toxic people trying to undermine me and my work. I have had this behaviour from young toward myself at school and work. I started to believe it was my fault and was an unlikable person. I decided that I couldn't work in mainstream employment with other people and became anxious about finances. Now I am cleaning for people in my village who appreciate me and are grateful for my help. I don't know why people bully , but I have come to the conclusion they are unhappy in their lives. Be what you are and sod the haters. From Uk

I love this video. Your words and views on bullying and negative people resonate so strongly with me and your advice makes a lot of sense. So many times I've reacted to negativity with more negativity, and of course that doesn't make me feel better. I think you're absolutely right: the best thing you can do (especially for your own sanity) is to try to have courage to not let other people define you based on their own insecurities and counteract their energy with a generous or kind deed for someone else. Another quote that I feel applies to what you're saying: Let them misunderstand you.

I was told by another woman that they saw me as someone who lives being my authentic self. I am in my 50s and honestly you care less what other people think the older you get. My authentic self is definitely fed by quiet time in nature, doing any kind of art or craft, photography, time with friends (mostly I have introvert friends who understand me) and living my faith. Even in my 50s I struggle with introversion where people feel hurt or rejected because I am often in my own little world. My goal for 2023 is to be better at reaching out to others so they know they are loved and appreciated.

Thank you! I appreciated the end when you spoke on negative people. "Hurt people hurt people." Their negativity or unforgiveness speaks more about them than about you. That was freeing. My rabbit pictures, bookmarks and stickers arrived this week in Australia, Paola, and it made my heart so happy to open them. They're so beautiful. Over the last year while I've been watching your videos I've developed a rabbit theme at my house with cushions, figurines, wall art and now your lovely cards which sit on my coffee table to be admired every morning while I have my coffee and do journaling. Alice in Wonderland was always my favourite book, and rabbits are such non threatening animals (I'm scared of dogs) being surrounded by rabbits is very soothing. We're not allowed to have them as pets in Queensland because we don't have predators for them and they'd breed uncontrollably and ruin crops, so I can only imagine how lovely it was to have Mr Darcy in your life. Anyway, thank you for your lovely whimsical artworks which I have already had so much pleasure from. You are a very soothing influence on my life and I'm so grateful for that. Blessings to you and Luke for the new year. You deserve every good thing.

Thank you for commenting that if you don’t read often, you haven’t failed. As a single woman who works full time with an hour plus commute each way, manages a home and has aging parents that I see several times a week, I find it very hard to sit down and take time to read. If I do, I often fall asleep. I could listen to audio books, but I like the feel of holding a book and turning the pages. I buy books and have a draw full by my bed. I have the desire and it is a goal, but I get so irked at friends who say have you read this? What, you didn’t read that? Most of them don’t work, have been in books clubs, they have housekeepers, their children are grown etc… I have none of that (except I don’t have children). Our lifestyles are different, not better or worse, but different. I prefer music to unwind, or being artistic in some form. The way they made me feel for not reading the most hyped, trendy book was terrible and made me feel “less”. Mind you, I was an English major. I’m sure none of them read Shakespeare, Joyce or Chaucer. And, I’m pretty sure I could write a short story just as well as they can comprise a financial spreadsheet or prepare a 6 course meal. So, for all the “wish we could non-readers”, I thank you for the validation!

You might want to reconsider spending time with people who make you feel less (they're just advertising they're no happy with their lives). Don't be afraid to let them go if you feel unhappy after seeing them. It'll be a weight off your shoulders. Your life is valuable and good, you sound like a really lovely person that I would want to be friends with. Your "friends" lack kindness, you are open-hearted, artistic and supportive, please be nice to yourself too by distancing yourself from toxic people, even if that means having a smaller social circle. In my experience unkind people do not change and it's not worth having a frank conversation with them. I don't have a large social circle (by choice) but I am friendly with people when I'm out and about and these short conversations can also be fulfilling until you find new friends naturally or through a meet-up website or similar, if that is want you want. I hope you have a happy and healthy new year.

Thank you for this. Especially your take on cyber bullies. I have had a lot on my channel over the last year and struggling with mental health makes it much harder to ignore them at times. But now I just ignore and delete the comment and try to let it go and not take it to heart as you say hurt people hurt others.

Dearest Paola, I must congratulate you on your latest book. It is absolutely wonderful. I took it on my honeymoon and in those quiet moments, I read it cover to cover and savoured every, single, wise and beautiful word. You have a knack of making me so calm, more mindful and more aware of my surroundings, than anyone else I know. I see you more as a beautiful sister than a blogger and am eternally grateful to have gotten to know you more, through your book and KZfaq videos. If only the world was full of Paola’s - what a truly magical world it would be. Thank you for you ❤️💐🌻🌺🎄

Paola, you make us all aspire to be closer to our authentic self. I often close my eyes on a night, and to soothe myself, a vision of a cottage covered in snow in the woods always comes to mind. I know me, my husband and our three small children would potentially thrive somewhere like that. You inspire me! We live in a small town by the coast, in a beautiful house, so I can’t complain… but at 33, I feel like I need to stop compromising and trying to impress people who mean nothing too me and don’t mind me much back! Please keep on - you are so beautiful, and your life is fresh and gentle, just like you! Your baby is in for the best Mum and Dad and lifestyle EVER! X

I live in the country, next to the largest section of forest in my small town. We feel excited and lucky when we see a fox, cougar, deer, coyote, racoon etc - they are frightened of US, and avoid us as much as possible! A cozy little tea party with kind gentle wisdom - I feel so peaceful and happy after any of your videos 💝

It's more like a little ritual of mine to see your videos and, at the end, go through these comments, all posted by such kind people. You are winning in life. You are such a lovely person. I wish you the beautiful closure to this year and a wonderful start for the next ✨️

Ahhhh… that was lovely! And I especially appreciated all you said about hate and bullying and how to rebalance oneself. It’s always helpful to listen to heart-centered people as they share their own wisdom. Your wisdom - particularly acquired at such a young age - is a wonderful gift to share, and helps to weave the fabric of the human collective… which we need now, perhaps more than ever❣️🙏🏻🌟💞

Awww, I was just thinking of Mr Darcy last week and hoping you were doing well on your first Christmas with him watching from the other side of the rainbow bridge. He sure had the most beautiful life with you! ❤️ It's been many years since my bunnies passed on and I still miss them and think of them around Christmas time (just like I think of other family members who have passed on).

Coming out of a cold spell in SE Wisconsin, stuck indoors, look forward to hearing from you. I pick up your book next week! Also, I work with people with disabilities who have difficulties reading physical books for whatever reason, and I try to encourage audiobooks. Looking out a window, or painting, or crafting, or meditation while listening to an audiobook can be just as enlightening as holding a book and reading.

Being surrounded by trees feels like a big hug-THAT is the most perfect explanation of trees I've Ever heard! I couldn't agree more!! I grew up in a tree filled town, Grass Valley Ca then spent 7 yrs in Southern California. I got depressed. Literally. No season changes, perpetually sunny and warm, no snow barley any rain. I know live in the hills of the Napa Valley. It's just like my childhood town but smaller. I'm so glad you're surrounded by tree friends too! 💗

Your video was just what I needed! (I love all your videos, but this one spoke to me). I have been bullied in elementary school to high school constantly, and only found lifelong friends in college. The bullies would say hurtful things and on the worse days get physical (pull my hair, tear at my clothes, go through my backpack, bully me to copy my homework, look in the bathroom stall when I changed my clothes after PE to then laugh at me or make nasty comments etc) and it always boggled my mind why they did these things. It still does when I would think about it, and I agree hurt people hurt people, but also I accepted that there are vile, terrible, worthless people that walk this earth that want to bring you down to their level, and simply enjoy the misery of others. It does stay with me in some way, but at least it prepared me for when I discovered kind, friendly, genuine people that have become my friends, to treasure them as they are rare.
