Did Overtime Elite influence the NBA draft? For instance the owner of the Pistons, Tom Gores, made his money in private equity and knows what it takes to pump the valuations of a company. Add to the fact that so many current players and even the fmr-NBA commissioner are investors you can see how manipulating the draft could boost the private market valuations by A LOT potentially by +500mln. More than making up for the loss of revenue to a team. Clearly this sort of reckless capitalism exists today in America but it just feels so wrong when in involves such great institutions like High School and College basketball.

That is possible, but nba teams are most concerned with finding players to help them win. As a result they will go wherever they have to find those players. Jokic is proof of that. And if you aren’t good enough you will end up out of the league pretty quickly. We will certainly see how OTE products do going forward.

@@SCABBall I think you're missing the point. This is not about basketball but about how to increase the Valuation of OTE, if they coordinate inflated values and influence decision makers with stock share options which could make them more than a successful playoff run, clearly the incentive is there for this and truthfully, this is exactly what it looks like to me.

@@newagain9964 speaking for myself here - I was a NCAA student athlete, I got 2k a semester and books. It's not even close to the same crime/manipulation.

Yeah. But the avg or even above avg 4-5 star player ain’t gonna make any real $ with NCAA. And after OTE they can play in Europe or G league to continue to develop and get paid.

Right...so instead of getting a education and play ball...you recommend a career with the upside of 10years and the potential to travel and play ball in the great cities of the world like Saudi Arabia, Wuhan China lol. OTE players are short sighted, greedy and afraid of meeting college girls.

I think what it’ll boil down to is that the majority of those players that aren’t going to the NBA also aren’t going to the G League. Then it becomes a question of how many people want to move to Europe vs. maintain college eligibility
