Let's Build a Train Switching Operations at the UP Yard in Colton CA

17 күн бұрынI was scouting the area looking for some good spots to fan and bench when I found this place. I happened to be pulling up while they were building this manifest train, so I stuck around and filmed it. The entire process took the crew about 45 minutes to complete. Nobody wants to sit through all that crap. So, I trimmed 30 minutes of "fat" off and left only the choice cuts for your viewing pleasure!

Thanks Jake! This spot is right by the new location in Colton. I think I am just gonna set my desk up here under the brigde. I already hit the dude from Union Pacific up about it when he drove by in his truck that day. He said it was cool with him. 🔥🎉🚂🚃💨😂😂

Love the raw locomotive power! Security in the rail yards must be nonexistent for someone to have enough time to tag an engine with such a gigantic design.

Me too! 🚂👍 Right! I do not mind when the art is on the rolling stock, but the writers (graff artists) need to stay off of the power. It is cool enough without them "enhancing" it. 😎 Thanks for watching my friend!

When I was a kid they did this in front of my house every day, pick one up leave two etc. But they were always in a hurry they'd slam them cars and switch fast and move on. Bang bang bang!!! These guys getting paid by the hour taking their time!

Location is under S Mt Vernon Avenue, 1 mile east of the famed Colton Crossing. The plane in the background was landing at the San Bernardino International Airport.

like how you trimmed off that “fat” didn’t “butcher” it either!😂 awesome switching action. So many freight cars out there but they gotta tag the locomotive…🙈

Right off the bat, please accept a small correction. The brakeman (or field man, or switchman) is going to LINE the switch. One person lacks the strengh to throw it anywhere all by himself.

Awesome! Thank you Glenn I appreciate your view and comment. I noticed that it seemed rather easy for him. So when the gentleman lined the switch, I am guessing that it closes an electrical circuit that applies power to a mechanism that actually "throws" the switch?
