I live close to Lombard Hobbies. Best prices on train stuff I have ever seen. The owner is disabled - needs a cane to walk slowly - but shows up to work every day. He just lives to make customers happy.

This is my favorite What's Neat ever! I just finished watching it for a second time and absolutely love how he making the trestle. How he explains how he does all the different parts makes it seem not as daunting. I have always wanted to build a trestle and even bought a bent. Thank you again Ken. You inspire all of us!!

Ken, I don't know if the RGS did things differently than other railroads or not. The Cap, (topmost cross piece) for most RRs was a chunk of wood the same size as the Piling, in your case 12 X 12. However the pilings where not cut at the next and other cross pieces (Sashes) The sashes where made from 12" X 3" or 4" and bolted to the Pilings. I would think that the way you did it, cutting pilings in two at every story, would produce a week Bent!

That trestle bridge video was amazing! The long form instructional format was great, and then the temporary snow on top was genius! Looked so real. At first I was surprised how long this video was but it flew by it was so good! I think this was my favorite What's Neat, Ken!! Beautiful work and great video!

Everything about this was fantastic, using plexi to essentially build a jig so you can crank out trestles, heck even carving out the foam to put pieces of wood in there so you have a nailing/gluing surface for the plywood wrap just blew my mind in a "why didn't I think of that?" manner. Thanks tons.

We are collecting the wood to eventually model the Goat Canyon Trestle just East of San Diego. You can drive to smaller versions all built the exact same way as the Goat Canyon. Will probably do it in O gauge. Maybe we'll do both! I need to do some research on those who built this railway.

What an amazing job, Ken. Thank you. By the way, the reason the torch gets rid of the bubbles in the resin is because the heat expands the air in the bubbles and that expansion causes the bubbles to burst. Just wanted you to know.

Good morning Mr. Patterson, how are you doing this fine morning? Hey, I have a question sir about the name of the Jan/Feb 1986 magazine you mentioned at the beginning of your trestle jig build. I have listened several times and I can't make out the name other than the word Gazette. Could you please tell me the name so I can try to find a copy for myself? Thank you kind sir.

@@davefield5538 Thank you Mr. Field, after I bought the 1986 magazine, I found out that I had in fact wrote the wrong date in my message to Mr. Patterson, then I used that same date when I bought the single magazine, lol. I went back to Ebay and found someone selling the entire year of 1987 and bought them. I am looking forward to building a couple of these jigs for my brother and I. Have a great Christmas sir.
