Loved this chat! There are definitely things I regretted putting time and $ into and would never do again. What you are describing for your celebration sounds so good for you two. We did a fairly traditional wedding, backyard renewal for our 10th, and our 20th is next year and I just want it to be the two of us, kind of the wedding we always wanted (simple) and only for us. And thank you for sharing about how your grief has altered your spirituality. You do YOU! There can be respect all around - people can have their thing and you can have yours. And another experience may change it again, who knows and it's no one else's decision or for them to judge. But again, thank you for sharing for those of us who have had losses and it does totally change your perspective on things. It helps us feel less alone.

OMG! My fiancé and I are doing a backyard wedding in November and I feel kind of weird for not having a wedding party or shower. People keep asking me “what’s your theme”… I’m like… I’m supposed to have a theme? 😂 We’re only doing this because someone offered their home and to pay for food and beverages. We were just going to do the courthouse thing 😅. I just can’t picture is spending more than we did on a party 😭

tbh I'd probably love having a traditional wedding with bridesmaids, a bridal shower, and a fun bachelorette but I don't have enough close friends and family to do all that with lol. The friends that I do have aren't close enough to put through all that (when they got married I wasn't invited to be a bridesmaid or anything like that for them, so it would make me feel awkward to ask them to do that when they didn't view me the same). Kind of sad but oh well!

Your feelings around grief are totally valid and I love the name "grief bomb." I think it's a perfect name for it.

Fairly new follower (after Christmas videos!) and I’ve always been curious about your ptsd. Found this video and I am so sorry you experienced that! I definitely also related to losing someone important and questioning God and Christianity. Everyone has to find that relationship on their own time, but I’d love to encourage you not to give up hope. God didn’t do those things, this world is ruled by sin. God never promised us an easy life here on Earth, he promised us salvation and everlasting life. ❤ Love your videos and content and glad to know a little more of your story!

I got married in a park with 10 guests and rented out a room at a restaurant afterwards . It was the absolute BEST! I highly recommend springing for a photographer. That was all I really wanted and I’m so glad I have tons of high quality photos to remember the day

Hard agree on the wedding discussion - my husband and I just eloped and my only regrets are not going even simpler and cheaper. In the days following we had separate dinners with our families/friend groups and everyone loved it.

Carter, I’ve been following you for a while and had no idea you had PTSD and Costocondritis- I have both (probably from each other lol)! it’s so nice to see someone else who deals with the same things.

I'm sure you've heard this but the grief is a ball in a box theory is so accurate, seeing that really helped me!

I said the same thing about th wedding. We are actually just doing a reception. Super non-traditional. No bridesmaids . My wedding dress shoes and everything was $240 total lol. Its literally just a dinner and cake from costco for everyone to come and celebrate with us. We decided to do it at the modern museum of art because its just the location we both loved. So we're excited. We're doign vows privately and getting married at the courthouse in private.

I think a lot of it has to do with faith & remembering even tho that person is gone off the earth, The second coming will allow us to see our loved ones again . Its all about faith and believing in it . I understand if that is harder to understand especially when it comes to grieving . Otherwise , love the video .
