Most people know that have been around long enough that novarossi on the last 6 years before shut down were in serious financial trouble, so they were Frankensteining, most of there engine, just switch head or rebrand it and call it some other name but in actuality it is the same engine, mix match cranks sleeves etc. So engines 5 years older or before shut down, we're were there better quality engines and newer were not so good quality, FYI I know some of the rossi family and even Mario will tell you the same, one of reasons he left and as you know started reds, I own about 20 novarossi still great engines just depends on the year you bought or the borne on date, great video

The BoMito is a Memphisto on road/gt crank with a Bontio partset...the case I received wasnt a Bontio case either It was stamped Rex on the side and when compared to the Bontio case it was a bit more open, nontheless the engine makes alot of revs ans responded well to increasing the blow down a good amount. Great engine for the European tracks or running a small bell /spur combo

Cool topic. I really like the in depth video's you do of the engines. I myself have a some pre/post Novarossi engines. Its very interesting the seemingly reject parts that the post ones are built with vs the parts the pre are built with. As for the +2 port thing. For me whichever intake ports that open when the piston is at bdc are the ones you count. Anything on the intake side of things that doesnt open when the piston is at bdc is the + if that makes sense. Keep up the good work bro💯🏎💨👍🏾👍🏾 something else i noticed is the post engines almost always dont have a serial number/date stamped into the block. I believe after talking with someone who made a big purchase right before and after the liquidation there was a surplus of what would have been reject parts, specifically blocks cranks and carbs. Alot of brands that had accounts with Novarossi before the passing of the ole Man sort of was getting first dibs before even the shutdown behind closed doors you know. I have a year 20 mantra with certificate and all which is after the shut down so go figure🤷🏾‍♂️

Bought mine from ebay seller cosmopro 2 years ago, same crank 18/18, r7 rod, drilled case. Black front bearing and it came with a plug.

Not sure if I bought this one from cosmopro, but I know I have bought from them. And your crank is unfilled as well?

Hi Todd, i don't think the bypass holes are the +2. To my knowledge the + 2 are the vertical ports next to the exhaust port. My Alpha A872 is a 7+2. Main intakeport, 4 transferports, and 2 bypass ports. +2 vertical ports next to the exhaust. It does have the 3 hole exhaust port. Which i believe is to make a wide exhaust port without weakening the sleeve. If it were these tiny exhaust ports the A872 would be a 9+2. The technical specification of the Picco p3tt is a 3 port +2 boost. Main intakeport, 2 transferports, +2 vertical ports next to the exhaust. The exhaust port is not in 3 holes and it has no bypass ports. Is your bomito listed as a 7+2.? In my theory it should be a 5+4 then, Or they count one vertical port to the ports. Every manufacturer does it different, but if i look at my engines i do believe the +2 are vertical ports next to the exhaust port. Maybe because there isn't a lot of feul mixer flowing there and it's more for giving direction to the flow they don't count as intake ports. Maybe take a look at your other engines and see if that makes sense with their specification.

What I call the "line" ports next to the exhaust. The PT21AO has them, so that matches, I'll have to check some other engines. Thanks for the feedback

I have some electric rcs , now looking for a good quality nitro car (not monster truck). Any thoughts or suggestions for 1/8. I have no idea but I know hpi , and hsp which I am not sure about its quality. Looking for a good quality and value 👌

Hi Todd I have a question on front .21 nitro bearings. Is there a Video?. I have tryed alsorts of bearings some work great like the Japanese brands. Low cost engineering bearings, ceramic etc. Some my engines run ok with leaking oil. But others run terrible unless I change to new bearings.I no some oil leaking is ok. There is seal compatability to nitro is important.I run Picco Nova Alpha RB Gotech OS. All run so differently on the condition on front bear. Thanks in advance Jeff

I don't have a video specifically on front bearings, but I have discussed the matter. I made a Facebook post where I showed a pair of ceramic front bearings that I had bought. The rubber "seals" were too small and did not make contact with the inner race. Not even close, there was like a 1mm gap. I didn't even think to try to use them, to me they would be leaking oil and sucking air. But much to my surprise, I got more than one response saying that the bearings would work fine because, in fact, you do not need a sealed front bearing. And I'm not talking some random kid chiming in, this is someone who I respect, someone who has worked in the industry for years. Their argument was simple: The existence of metal shielded(not sealed) front bearings means that a front seal is not needed. It is true that tons of small blocks come with metal shielded front bearings. I politely disagreed. While metal shielded bearings are not "sealed" per se, they do have very close tolerances and when spinning the oil creates a "seal" This is how I look at front bearings. I disassemble and inspect my engines often. If I can hold a bearing up to the light and see light coming through around the inner race, I replace it. I buy the cheapest ABEC-3 bearings I can find. Matter of fact I think I bought like a dozen a couple years ago, and I still have most of them. They are holding up quite well.

I'm with you. I remodel houses for a living and I'll fix everything that I can possibly fix in my own home electronics and my pickup truck of course. But to be honest with you all my electronic repair stemmed from having to learn the electric side of racing an the buggies. Which has helped me in electronic repair immensely before I was very afraid of it. But my question was what is the oxygen free copper thing I've never heard of that. Or if I saw it before I didn't know what it meant or what it what it was really referring to. Obviously it's devoid of oxygen but how is that a good thing or why? Thanks mr todd. Also, I got my bonito off of nova direct I don't remember what the price was. I do believe it was less than 200. As a matter of fact I still got a virtus an a rb bx5r that are yet to run. And I have a whole slew of ones that I'm swapping out and running now. Local to hear at phil hurd Raceway.

I'll be honest, while I've been using OFC wire for many years(used to install car stereo for a living) I understood it to be premium, but didn't really know why. I did know that OFC power wire didn't grow that powdery green corrosion that forms on battery posts. I just read into it a bit, not only is it much more corrosion resistant, but also has less resistance so less heat, and increased conductivity.
