Nice job, brushed aluminum have a unique look. Did a similar cutting job to the cam cover of my 77 Sporty - decades ago. The Engine got a much more "technical" look. Also you can see where the oilline enters the cover and ya got a view to the oilpump.

My covers are chrome (and not great shape). Any tips on how to remove it so I can get the brushed aluminum look?

Sandpaper, scotch brite, elbow grease... It will be a lot of work...
