In this video, I asked you all to take us grocery shopping with you.
Visiting grocery stores in a favorite past time of mine whenever I travel and it turns out, I'm not alone!
I had over 50 submissions from all over the world!

The most shocking and amazing thing for me is to see the people who have chosen to contribute to this video. People of various age groups and professions and lifestyles. Somehow, socially we always associate videography, travel, photography with people of a certain age group. We perceive them as interests that are precious to just "young" people but this video just depicts that so many people, all across the world, having seemingly ordinary lives are so interested and desirous of learning about a country/life/world that is perhaps not easily accessible! And, all this while simultaneously sharing and wanting to share their own small world with others. This video/concept must have encouraged so many people to pickup a camera for the first time, it must have motivated people to film and vlog their experiences, must have pushed to them to let go of their inhibitions and talk to a machine! None of these things are easy to do in public, there is so much stigma around the experience of documentation especially when you do not belong to a certain "age". I can't get over it, this video must have encouraged so many people to exercise a new skill, embrace a new hobby, it makes me so happy to see this

Takeaway food around the world can be an interesting topic like the food which people eat when they are in hurry maybe like a burger or something! Food that you can eat while walking, ig it pretty much varies around the world so it would be interesting to see that!! Loved your video btw!! 🥰

I watched this video holding my breath, with teary eyes... tears of absolute joy! What a masterpiece! What a splendid way to bring us all together!, I went grocery shopping around the world in 15 mins in this video! Can you imagine?! A bit disappointed that the video is so short and quick. I really wanted to see the full door to cashier experience in different countries. This feels more like a trailer to a series yet to come.

I have the silliest grin on my face watching this! 😃🥰 TYSM Beryl and everyone who participated! I've been chronically ill with a degenerative neuro-immune disease since I was 22, and homebound/bedbound for the last 10 yrs, and grocery shopping was my favorite kind of shopping! My mom and I used to make big plans to go to the nice Whole Foods and spend all day there looking at everything 😆 This video was the best one yet! It brought me so much joy- I'll be watching it again and again. You took me back to the store again, but around the world! Thank you everyone!!! 💙🤗🙌♿

@@adricianazef3523 It's a popular condiment in the Philippines made from banana, sugar, vinegar and spices. It's also used in their local version of spaghetti with sliced hot dogs like the one at their Jollibee restaurants. Very tasty indeed!

This is by far my favourite video of yours! It even surpasses the video that my art was featured in. One of the things I have genuinely missed most about traveling over the last eighteen months is visiting groceries stores in new countries. Growing up in a French Canadian/Italian family, one of the ways my mom showed us love was through our stomach... to see foods from around the world that is special to others is one way to feel connected. I love discovering new items in the shop, fall in love with them, to potentially never having them again as it makes those discoveries that much more special. I'd love to see another video like this!

Its always interesting going to an ethnic grocery store in the United States learning, exploring about the products/ brands plus different produce and meats. The one stop I always make whenever I travel's the local supermarket/grocery store, so I love this idea so much. On a related note, given the recent fuss around wet markets (especially those in and around Asia), perhaps it would be great if there could be a similar video that features primarily wet markets to introduce, demystify, and destigmatize wet markets in the popular imagination?

in the popular imagination, wet markets are a normal thing. most of the world do not have a bad view of wet markets, it's only in the west.

@@sofia_calista if you have to know, I’m neither euro-american nor part of “the west” - and I definitely get your criticism of the latter’s parochialism - but there remains nonetheless a rather imbalanced flow of information, influence, and ultimately capital between states and cultures in the globalised economy. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the onus falls on “non-western” communities to educate the rest of the world, and it, more still, doesn’t entitle the rest of the world access to such communities simply because they’re interested. But for those who’d be willing to share as well as those who’d like to learn in earnest, this is a great platform.

Ah! Wasa bread! Something I grew up on…topped with butter and almost anything else. Having visited Scandinavia I can definitely attest to how most they love their licorice. At a convention in Helsinki there was a licorice kiosk in the center of the convention center, and when we visited the small grocery store in Copenhagen? Yup, more licorice!

My favorite experience on a trip to Italy was wandering around the back streets of Venice and finding a local grocery store. It told me more about the area than visiting anywhere on the main drag.

Omg idk why this got me emotional. I LOVE supermarkets and even here in nyc they vary so much between neighborhoods. It’s always an experience. I adore visiting markets and supermarkets everywhere I go. In other neighborhoods of NYC, in places I visit, in other countries. It is like a museum, only tastier and you get to take the stuff you wanna try, home to try it. Also, I almost always learn something new about how to make/prepare stuff I never saw before. People are always happy to help and try to explain, demonstrate, mime or otherwise convey what something is and how it's eaten. It is such a great way to connect.
