The Hobbiton Movie Set is a significant location used for The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit film trilogy, serving as a stand-in for the town of Hobbiton in the Shire in both trilogies.
A 'Hole' new attraction has been unveiled to the public recently at the Hobbiton Movie Set in Matamata. Visitors can now venture beyond the door and inside an authentic Hobbit Hole.
A guided tour starts with a drive through our picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges.
Take a look at Bag End, where Frodo and Bilbo’s adventures began. Get lost among the hobbit holes and visit the Green Dragon Inn, the mill and the Party Tree. Listen to spell-binding tales of how Hobbiton came to be.
Tours depart daily from the Shire's Rest Cafe, 501 Buckland Road Matamata.

I am from New Zealand. The prices you saw are Disneyland equivalent. Absolutely ridiculous. The real New Zealand is a lot less expensive. Just everything aimed at tourists is very expensive. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. I did get tears watching this. I love " The Lord of The Rings ". At one point I I knew my mom would loved to go on this tour. She always wanted to live in Hobbiton if it ever existed. She loves the books and the movies. I've only seen the movies and love them. I would rather live in Rivendell. My mom knew that right away when she saw it in the movie.

Yes, there are 2 fully furnished hobbit holes but you can only go inside one of them.

Thanks for posting this, very interesting, it is a huge money spinner for sure. Tolkien's legacy lives on albeit in a way he would no doubt have been horrified by.
