Fossil Pokémon have been a series staple since the beginning and have appeared in most of the games since. I wanted to make some of my own for my fakemon region, Croneo.

This is my fist Croneo Region video, and seeing a non-binary design in it is more than a little exciting, as a non-binary person myself! I really like their design, and I'm stealing their outfit. Past that, these designs are super fun! I'm gonna be binging this tomorrow for sure!

I love these new fossil Pokemon. The amphibian and the arthrapluera. I also like the ice age fossils and I would name the squirrel Flame Scrat.

actually, the dex specifies Greedunt often lose out in food because of competition with their pre-evo, so they got the real world dynamic right!

I like Obsidaalik a lot, but instead of Rock/Water but I think Rock/Fighting works better, because it's attack based, obsidian has been used for weapon making for centuries, and it's one of the only 2 types that resists and is resisted by the same type, the other being, Agapleura's type, Bug, and who doesn't love a little symbolism. Also, it's a bit more unique. The only Rock/Fighting type is Terrakion, meaning we've never had a Rock/Fighting fossil. Either way, the guy looks great, and I love his silly little face. Definitely on my team for Croneo!

Physical attacking water types exist (I used a Floatzel in a recent playthrough and LOVED it), and by that logic I should make Agapleura Rock/Steel. I ultimately decided on Rock/Water because although many others exist, they do not exist in my fakemon region. As for Rock/Fighting, one does, a fakemon I made called Bearestle. So it just felt right to be consistent with basing the type on the species. Plus, it's not as if other offence/defence themed fossils had to represent it in their types, they did so with their stats and designs, which I did here.

Honestly I'd love to see a Pokemon region that has four Fossil Professors and ALL Fossils, you can even dig them all up like in Sinnoh or Galar, or even buy them like in Alola, and of course find them just lying around. They would also be the Elite Four. The 1st Professor would revive only Stone Fossils the Rock types. (Allen Grant) The 2nd Professor would only revive Frozen Fossils the Ice types. (Ellie Sattler) The 3rd Professor would restore the "True Form" of the Fossil Pokemon, removing the Ice and Rock types from the Pokemon, I think most would be Dragon type. (Ian Malcolm) And the last and 4th Professor would combine the fossils "Galar Style" but would only do it if you got 2 badges, when you get 4 badges 3 fossils are fussed, at 6 badges 4 fossils are merged, with 8 badges 5 fossils will be united, once you beat the Elite Four 6 fossils can be added together, and once you beat the champion, you find out that the 4th Professor and Elite 4 member is the Real Leader of the Evil Team and he's combined all of the fosdils into 2 Legendary Strength Pokemon based on the Indominus Rex and the Indo-Raptor. Yes this guy would be Henry Wu. Oh and Nedry was the False Evil Team Leader, a fall guy. Lol. Oh course the Champion is John "Spare No Expanse" Hammond... ... ... Yeah, he had no idea what Wu was doing.

Rock/Water is the most common combo for Rock. Still, they look cool.

I know but I felt it was the best type for it, plus I haven't introduced a Rock/Water type for my fakemon region outside of this so it's still pretty unique

I know it's likely too far down the line now and rock water is still a cool combo, but I got a cool idea if you're interested. Tiktaalik being the transition from sea to land, and the very earthy looking line, could mean the evolution line actually goes from water to ground, quite literally in its typing. A Rock water, evolving into a Rock ground. Just a cool thought :D

I did consider that, but I decided on Rock Water, and yeah, it's a bit too far down the line because I've made the video now lol and I'm very happy with its typing. I'm also basically finished with Croneo's planning so I don't really have anything else I'd really want changed

Fun fact: Obsidian, due to being an igneous rock, cannot form into a fossil, since fossils are most commonly formed via sedimentary stacking. It’s not a big deal, since it’s Pokémon, and Pokémon bend logic and the laws of science just by existing. Plus, an obsidian fossil, while impossible in our world, is a really cool idea.

arthotect and agapleura look alot like a prehistoric scolipede to me. maybe the pressure of fossilization turned them into fire type :p

I'm a little confused how a fossil could pass on a fire type from pressurisation. Wouldn't genetics be passed down due to breeding when the Pokémon are alive instead of once they're dead? Grandchildren tend to inherit traits from their grandparents before the grandparents die after all
