TUTORIAL DESCRIPTION:
In this video I am going to make molds of some premade cabochons and try to duplicate the look of the original. First I pour clear resin using Lets Resin in the mold and then using nail film I cut out the shape of the cabochons and place that on top of the clear resin. let it cure. I then take a silver paint pen and cover the back to get the same effect. I also try a gold and black pen to see the effects they give.

Oh wow these just turned out soo pretty. WTG in doing this and having as many as you want in what ever colour you want. I will definately have to invest in some rubber silicon at some point and make molds LOL. I found these ones and a bunch more LOL and was thinking oh the molds and colours i could make etc .

Very nice experiment. 😄👍🏻 They all turned out very unique and pretty. ❤ That said, if you want the cabochons to look more like the kind you buy, you're going to need to buy mirror foil. (There's also mirror paint but that's meant for glass or acrylic sheets so I'm not sure if it would work for resin.) Basically, you need to add fake mirror to the back because that's what the store bought version does to make theirs so shiny. Mirrors reflect light back at you through them so they sparkle more. Some people use the cheap "silver leaf" sheets for that. However, you can somewhat imitate the effect on a budget with aluminum foil. It's not quite as shiny but it comes close. 😉 Thanks for sharing! 😁

I love this idea Mary! I almost bought a mold on Etsy to make some of the cabochons but then had the same idea as you. I just keep forgetting to buy the cabochons to make a mold of them. 🙈🤣 I really like how you changed the background for different effects. ❤

Thank you Stacey, the reason I did this was because I went looking for the mermaid scale ones and they didn't have them anymore. My clock was originally going to be with those but I didn't have enough. 💡💡💡Moment🤣🤣 plus so easy to make. Its a no brainer. ❤🌻
