I wanted to make a Rooster puppet as a demonstration for an upcoming shadow puppet workshop. I made a couple different versions, each with their own benefits.

Alex & Olmsted oh, you know, the usual little tricks with bell cranks and linkages. I bet you have a ton of them. And of course a new level of AI intelligence.

The rooster singig made me smile. So charming. Thanks for the book reference. I feel bad that I left such a critical review on a similar vid. Had I watched this first, I would have undertood that video better. Am working on my first puppet, and basically guessing at the placement of the mechanisms. Will look for the book. Thanks.

This is brilliant! Did you make the control rods or buy them? Is there a tutorial? These look much better than bamboo skewers!

Thanks so much! I made the rods from 14 gauge galvanized wire. You can buy it in rolls from most hardware stores. We have a tutorial on wire straightening here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l9uEa5yA0p2mqKs.html After straightening the wire it's just a matter of making a few 90 degree bends with a pair of pliers. Hope that makes it more clear! If there's interest, maybe we'll make a video describing the process in the future.

I was watching you're videos because I thought you're work was brilliant! But you just help me with my work... I don't know yet how will I make the legs of my shadow puppet move, but one of the "mechanism" or "levers" (I don't know how it's named in English) used in the rooster will help me a lot 🥰 thank you guys!

@@AlexAndOlmsted Hi! No... I didn't post any video yet. I'm finishing my first two shows, and when I finish I'll start to post some things here and on Instagram. I'm not very adept at social networks, but I see that it's important, both for us as artists, as for sharing knowledge ... so as soon as I finish, I'll start to move my Instagram and make a channel here on KZfaq 😊 when I post I'll be back to warn you 😊
