I hard agree on so much of the ranking but I think Amazon Lily deserves a revisit! the lore drop with how Boa and her sisters were treated is great, and also the part where luffy refuses to let anyone see their back is sooo good

I've never been more captivated with a show than when I was watching Water 7 and Enies Lobby

I fully agree with the opinion that Arlong Park is the best litmus test for if someone would like One Piece or not. If seeing the gang square up to fight Arlong after Nami breaks down doesn't send a shiver of excitement through you, you're not going to fully enjoy the next 1,000 episodes.

The amazing thing for me about Ace's death is that it's a reverse fake out. Instead of "oh, this character died... just kidding!" it was the opposite. I KNEW because of spoilers that Ace dies in Marineford, and when they uncuff him and he starts setting the world on fire I actually started thinking that maybe the spoilers were fake. It was so well done that it undid the spoiler. That has never happened before or since for me. One Piece is great.

Finally someone putting some respect on my boy Bege's name. He was such a nothing character until wholecake and I ended up falling in love with his crew. So strangely wholesome

Me forgetting that ProZD is a voice actor, and he actually *played* the voice of Cat Viper?! Like, I think I remember seeing his voice acting reel videos, but I hadn't caught up with One Piece at that point, so it didn't sink in for me. Now I have, and I see this and I'm like "you were Cat Viper?!?!" 🤣

It’s such an indicator of quality when the series is decades old and the kuma flashback still hit my emotions like a cement truck.

The WAY Oda can still give us such excellent moments that connect all the way back and always feel like "Now this is the peak of hype" is insane to me , starting OP the best decision in my entertainment space.

I can’t believe you didn’t mention Going Merry when you talked about Enies Lobby. That was one of the biggest moments for me realizing how good this series was when I was crying over a ship dying.

Sabaody is a top 5 arc for me. The pacing is insane and there's so much cool stuff around every corner. Duval (top 3 jokes in the story for me), Hachi return, Celestial Dragon debut, we meet all 9 supernovas, Rayleigh reveal, Roger lore drop, Kizaru, Pacifista debut, Kuma separating the strawhats, the Celestial Dragon punch, and the first hint of Luffy's real dream

Listen, I know its not in the manga, but we need a ranking for G-8.

God, I always feel so vindicated that other people hate Syrup Village as well. That was the first big wall for me when starting One Piece way back when, I think part of it is that Luffy/Zoro/Nami feels like a whole unit, and obviously still does when you add both Usopp and Sanji, but when it's just the 4 of them minus Sanji, it feels like something's missing. That's why I personally would rank Baratie higher. I feel like it's the first really creative setting in the series, in that it isn't just another island, plus introducing Sanji rounds out the main cast that (if you're watching the anime), you've been seeing in the opening for two dozen episodes already. t's also the first time one arc bleeds into the next and makes the story start to feel a bit bigger than it was. Krieg is definitely forgettable and it makes sense that they could skip him in the LA without losing much of substance. Couldn't tell you about the pacing asit's been a while for me, but hey, maybe it does drag.

Yep, Dressrosa week to week in the manga was painful. Then the anime was a whole new level of painful. I finished it and watched Zou, but man the thought of starting another monster arc with already slow pacing in Whole Cake made me drop the anime.

Perfect timing! I quite literally just caught up to present (in the manga) after starting the show back in 2020. Had to speed run Dressrosa to present in approximately two months due to a trip I was taking to Tokyo and I was told I was in danger of being severely spoiled. For the last 4 years, outside of 2 close friends of mine, I shielded myself from ALL One Piece web content for fear that the algorithm would feed me unsolicited One Piece videos and ads. So every single one of your One Piece related videos, I've sadly skipped. So I'm so happy to start with this one and then work my way through your past videos and watch those too!

My top two arcs are WCI and Enies Lobby. They're the peak of Pre and Post timeskip to me. They also have the common thread of rescuing someone who doesn't want to be rescued and that's just a situation that I love seeing the Strawhats in because their characters just hit so hard (Arlong Park also hits for the same reasons)

Love your ranking & totally agree with most of your points of each arc, but you should also rank the cover stories

I love how similar we are in that we both seemed kind of checked out for one piece. As I also picked it up and dropped it many times but, like you, also sort of kept up to date with the most recent events through various media or what I'd heard. Then I eventually learned bits of information here and there pertaining to enis lobby, impel down, the marineford war arc and some apparent iconic moments. Stuff like big characters returning alongside awesome new ones and big one piece world level events going down. I knew I had to catch up so I could see what all the buzz was about and to this day I'm so glad I did.

You put the picture of Usopp running away from Sugar as something that was painful and while you're right I feel like it should be pointed out that his new confidence was born from Sogeking who only existed because of Robin, so having Robin be turned into a toy and Usopps memories of her erased would defacto make him a coward again

If Egghead keeps the quality up, it will be my favorite arc in the whole show. The payoffs, pacing, action, reveals, it’s incredible.

If anyone reading this did what ProZD did and had to switch the the manga, I cannot recommend One Pace highly enough. They fix so many problems and cut out so much useless garbage. I can't imagine having made it through Dressrosa in the vanilla anime, but it was great with One Pace

Even in just this video of you rapid fire ranking all of the arcs, I manage to get emotional, looking back on the journey of it all. There truly will never be another story like One Piece. I sincerely feel bad for the people who aren't experiencing One Piece as its still ongoing, let alone the people who choose not to experience it at all. Its an unforgettable journey. The experience of a lifetime. An unmatched and unparalleled adventure, featuring the greatest story with the most beloved characters in all of fiction. Its just so, unbelievably perfect. I will be devastated when it reaches its conclusion, but will be eternally grateful to have gone on this journey from beginning to end.

A word of warning about the anime, if you want to go to it to watch Whole Cake, the pacing drags quite a bit at certain points. Alternatively, Egghead has been knocking it out of the park in the anime.

Never read the manga, but I can vouch that in the anime I couldn’t stand how long Skypeia was. The theme and characters were cool, but I fell in and out of One Piece for about a year while trying to get through it…

Which now makes fishman island very important, and the whole story is what are calling a modern odyssey as a story like one piece will never happen again.

I'm delighted that SungWon loves Impel Down, which for me is my top favorite even though I do have a hard time choosing but bringing back all these former antagonists and having them all fight alongside Luffy is like my FAVORITE thing and combining that with the introduction of Iva and Bon Clay's bond with Luffy it's just so, so good. I'm reading Marineford/Paramount War rn in the manga (I'm up to date on the anime and working my way through the manga now) and it's got me tearing up already and I haven't even gotten to That Part yet. As he said, there are so many good emotional beats that will ALWAYS make me tear up no matter how many times I see them, and that's just how well done it is.

I agree with a majority of your points and rankings, especially on the stuff that drags out. Even kind of quit where you did once with Skypeia. What I love about One Piece is that each of the "major" arcs are like separate genres: Thriller Bark is Horror, Wano is Feudal Japan, Egghead is the Future, Whole Cake Island is a Mafia movie, Fishman Island

As a recent manga only reader, Dessrosa being that low kinda hurts me I was a big fan of it! From a marathon reading perspective Doflamingo is my favorite villain.

I really appreciate how positive you were about the series as a whole. There aren't many people who would say there are parts of even the worst arcs they enjoy. If any one else would have done one of these videos it would have been totally negative until the top ten.

I had almost the same experience as you! I gave up reading during Long Ring Long Land but luckily a couple of months later a one piece clip randomly popped up on youtube for me while I was home sick from school. It was Luffy telling sogeking to shoot down the marine flag in enies lobby (I think it had aired relatively recently in Japan which is why it popped up) I so amazed with what happened in it I watched some other clips like luffy vs blueno and the "I want to live" scene and unfortunately spoiled myself all the plot twists but it got me to continue with the series I can't rate skypea or LRLL very high either for the same reason 😂

I freaking love One Piece, it's one of my favorite animes/mangas and one of my favorite pieces of media in general. And I think your rankings are very accurate ^^ Arlong Park got me seriously hooked, but I got kinda bored at Skypiea. Then I returned like 5 months later and didn't take another break since then. One of my best decisions in life :D

Man Thriller Bark at #19 is criminal! So many amazing moments. Zoro's fight against the samurai, the straw hats coming together to beat Oars, Brook's backstory, and of course "Nothing happened". Just iconic.

So many points you made i completely agree with i totally had to subscribe at some point it felt like I'm listening to myself 😅 there are some minor differences here and there but we mostly agree, not in the ranking itself but things like actually liking wapol and foxy or liking thriller bark for aesthetic or enjoying wholecake or jumping to the manga at dressrosa or crocodile still being your favorite villain or appreciating whiskey peak

After the ball guy appeared in Skypeia, I was watching at a pace of 2 episodes a month. Eventually a buckled down, finished Skypeia, and then had my mind blown across the rest of the Grand Line. Thriller Bark is super low for me just because it’s thrown in right after Enies Lobby and then it’s followed up by Sabaody, Amazon Lily(the actual introduction of Conquerer’s Haki), Impel Down, and Marineford.

You're comments on dressrosa is hilarious because we got to right before bound man and took a break till the end of wano was happening then picked it up again.

Funny coincidence since I just started reading One Piece from the beginning. I've been really tepid on it for a while and was mostly going through the motions of just reading new chapters to say I did for a while now. I definitely remember what I liked about it now that I've started over, but who knows if that will last.

I've read all of one piece and never watched the anime at all, so a lot of these thoughts about pacing were surprising to hear!

The exact same thing happened to me. Abandoned one piece during skypeiea and randomly found my way back during impel down. Fishman island made me leave again but I've seen it all now. One of the best stories ever

Water 7 and Ennies Lobby are at the top of the list for me. The way the conflict developed, the high points and the pay off was so natural and just an amazing experience for me. Oddly enough, Fishman Island and Amazon are also in my top 5. Having revisited them at a more mature stage in my life, those arcs really made me appreciate Oda's writing. He's an author who doesn't force ideals down your throat, he simply observes different themes from multiple views. There's so many subtle things he does that just makes characters breathe naturally and story beats flow.

I wish at the very least you would have also talked about post enies lobby and war when talking about those respective arcs, because there's good stuff in there, for sure. Coby and Helmeppo's glow up, it being revealed that Garp and Dragon are related to Luffy, the first drop of there being the four emperors, Franky joining the crew. And post war having Sabo, all the stuff with Dadan, all three of Ace Luffy and Sabo hanging out and becoming sworn brothers, it's all great stuff.

I love Amazon Lily! We learn about conquerer's haki and it starts to seriously manifest in Luffy. Also the slave trade is set up really well here following it's introduction in Sabaody before going into Fishman Island.

I really reaaaally hope we can get to impel down. That was my infinity war, seeing all these characters together in certain panels was freaking awesome. Also would love to see enel vs Luffy in LA. Lowkey one of the best fights in all of one piece. Lightning vs rubber was soooo cool

Your list is so interesting, because my 5-10 would be WILDLY different. I'm also a fan who didn't care much for Arlong Park though, which you might find baffling. For me, One Piece "clicked" around Baroque Works / Drum Island. That was where I got emotionally hooked!

I had a very similar experience to yours, with reading up to Skypeia, same feeling/reactions to it, and hearing about what was happening years later and getting intrigued. Only real difference is I made it through Skypeia, because I wanted to see the Luffy/Enel fight way to bad. I still have a massive poster of Enel's shocked face from the manga on my wall.

9:26 glad you’ve come around. I know people say Arlong Park decides if you like OP or not but I think Baratie is the ultimate test. Good worldbuilding, sanjis intro/heartbreaking backstory, and the villains. Don Krieg works as another villain for the Strawhats to defeat, but it’s Mihawk’s early introduction that shows just how weak the Strawhats are in the grand scale of the world. Good moments all around + a great setup for Arlong Park.

Water 7 is my personal top arc, so glad to see it make the top 5 at least.

It's definitely worth watching Whole Cake even after seeing the manga. That episode with Luffy and Sanji is still one of the most powerful for me. The music, the emotions behind their voices, it's so good

Amazing list! I think some arcs should be revisited because OP is sooo long and you just tend to forget some small stuff that might have impacted you a lot, but either way it's nice to see the characters you care about and the details you remember. I actually disagree with the "drop after Arlong Park if you don't enjoy it" because I was one of those people 😂 Back then I just got really upset at how One Piece just dragged everything at the beginning, Syrup Village killed my soul and I would only watch 2 episodes here and there, which totally destroyed Arlong Park for me (I really think I should've watched it in one go. When I watched the Arlong Park Nami episode OVA I loved it and cried so much lol). Disliking Arlong Park at the time, which people said was peak OP, made me put off One Piece for like 7 years, until 2 years ago, when my boyfriend convinced me to watch it while I was sick with covid and my bedridden time turned fucking great. Chopper's backstory destroyed me and Skypiea's ending, with Luffy headbutting the bell and Noland backstory did it for me... Water Seven took out my breath and made me realize I could never ever stop watching this anime 😂😂 Anyway, my life story in this comment, but I somehow just got emotional thinking about the whole journey. Crazy that some people watch OP since the early 2000s!

I, too, fell out of anime viewership at Dressrosa. Arabasta was similarly tough for me, and had parts like you mentioned "fake deaths" how the heck did Usopp tank that brutal gopher bat combo attack? A friend who I introduced to anime has been paused at Skypiea for about 3 years.

In defense of that Usopp scene from Dressrosa. You have to remember that when Robin is turned into a toy it also erases her memory from anyone that knows her. So when Robin is turned into a toy, Usopp no longer remembers Robin and has NO reason to stick around in that factory.

I literally had to take a several year long break from the entire series after dressrosa. I caught up to the manga about halfway through its run, so I had read like 400+ chapters (starting with the anime) and then it felt like I smacked into a wall (or got hit with a slow slow beam lmao) cause the momentum just slammed to a near complete stop.

Egghead is currently my number 1. High quality. Made me cry and rage and cry more. So many lore bombs. Holy cow.
