As a former girl scout from like, 15 years ago, proZD's top 3 rank exactly in order of the ones people bought the most (so presumably the recipes havent changed.) Thin mints will always remain supreme.

I’ve been a Girl Scout for thirteen years. I agree wholeheartedly with your ranking both on a personal and corporate level. For as long as I’ve been selling cookies there have always been around eight or nine varieties. Among both bakeries, the top three sellers are Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas, which all will probably be sold until the end of fucking time. There’s almost nothing fundamentally wrong with those. They’re well known because they’re good and they’re good because they’re well known. Do Si Do’s, Trefoils, and the routine lemon-theme cookie (Lemonade, Lemon Up, Savannah Smile, it changes with the wind) fall into this trend to a lesser extent. They’re balancers and fallbacks to attract more buyers, and only a select few pledge their loyalty to them (honestly Trefoils really only exist because they’re the original Girl Scout Cookie and it’s a fun fact to tell the customers.) All of these make up the "Big Six," or the irreplaceable cookies that stick around either because they're actually good or just because they're cult classics. The remaining two or three slots literally change on a whim. I don't expect S'mores to stick around for much longer because they cost more than the rest of the varieties and their enjoyment is short-lived (I also think Lemon-Ups won't last long even though this is their first year, because you pay FOUR DOLLARS for TWELVE COOKIES and that's just LUDICROUS). And GSUSA is always trying to diversify their cookie selections by adding a "healthy" or accomodative cookie, which has been the Toffee-Tastic for a while, but they always do the worst in sales and get switched out like a relay race of sad grainy failures. So yeah, everything you said is pretty accurate. But you really should have frozen them before eating. They're so much better that way.

In defense of the samoas, the cookie isn’t really a part of it imo. It’s there for structural integrity through the actual making of the cookie, but after its served the purpose it’s just a caramel sponge. I think they need to evolve their technology and get rid of the useless ass cookie part all together. Just give me a ring of caramel, toasty coconut and chocolate.

Samoas have actually gotten softer over time as a result of there being a change in cookie to topping ratio due to their reduced size.

Fun fact, Thin Mints are the only cookie that GSUSA requires every troop selling cookies to carry. The rest are optional

Honestly the only ones I remember are the good lemon ones, the coconut things and thin mints and that’s all I needed to know because those ones are the best in my opinion

My favorite was called “Savannah Smiles” in my area. Half moon lemon cookies covered in powdered sugar. And pretty sure discontinued. :(

When I was a baby Girl Scout my absolute favorite customer was my neighbor who ordered one of everything every year. I found great joy in bringing him all of his boxes of cookies. So I can say from experience you probably made that girl's day when you asked for one of everything lol

In Canada, the girl guides had their own version of Thin Mints and I have to agree that they were just amazing. I couldn't buy them for myself because I'd just eat the whole box and end up ordering like 5 more boxes and eating those too.

Im the most bland borning person you've ever met then. Trefoils are my favorite cookie that they have and when ever i get a box i actually say "oh boy trefoils i cant wait to eat these" and i say it with pure honesty.

I like how I was able to perfectly predict how you'd rank them at the end based on how you were talking about them while trying them. Sign of a good and consistent reviewer. Personally Tagalongs and Do-si-dos are my top two, and then Thin mints, but I also recognize that I am an absolute slut for peanut butter, so I'm definitely biased.
