Let's recover the Aerolite 103 Bush Beast!!

The fabric on my Aerolite 103 Bush Plane has degraded. It's a sad fact of life, but everything decomposes slowly overtime.The good news is I was able to score a decent looking set of sales that had only been flown once (also crashed once 🤣🤣)!
Join me while I modify, rebuild, and generally improve my beloved Aerolite 103.

I have the same color sails on my Aerolite 103, but chose black for the control surfaces. That color looks great in the air!

I want one so bad all I do is watch videos and dream lol.i can’t afford one with my income with living expenses that we’re all aware of lol. One day I’ll get mine I just can’t stand havin to wait hoping to afford one one day. Hopefully a used one someday and join the flight club/ omg it’d be a dream come true .

in the video you talk about the rivets that retain the stem that ate up drill bits. If they're CherryMAX rivets they have a steel locking collar in the head that should be ground down before you drill them out.

The rivet itself, in this case, is aluminum. The mandrel is steel and gets retained when broken off since the rivet has a closed end.

Have you ever flown the Firefly? I'm wondering how the Firefly flies compared to the Aerolite 103? I'm wanting to buy one of them, but I'm not sure which one I would prefer.

Where did you get your sails ? Is that a Kawasaki 440 engine?

Do you end up with a bunch of rivet pieces rattling inside the tubes?

I spent quite a bit of time fishing them out of the tail/control surfaces and still did not get every one of them. There's maybe 2 rogue pieces rattling around I was unable to get to.

I suppose old sail damaged by ultraviolet 😢
