Hello from Canada! Really enjoy your channel. Probably will never build an amplifier however I do enjoy your views and commentary. Now to the crux.. Bruce Cockburn has been recording forever, 78 years young. Mostly heartfelt songs and a superb musician. By the way, his name is pronounced 'Co burn'😊 Keep yer tubes warm!

Some songs that I like! I'm not a musicologist but I saw the "Swampers" that band, on a show. They recorded a classic album with Skynard but the label didn't want that studio band on their label so the one we have heard forever was second best. Thanks for the suggestions.

You can send that Sinatra at the Sands right up this way! 😊 nice selection of music and insights! I do think cartridge alignment / setup is the foundation..

Skunkie, I have pressing of Vinyl from Japan or I try to get EU, UK original pressings. I may be wrong, but I do hear a difference been told that the Vinyl pressed in smaller countries is better, I even have some from Norway, Sweden. They are not massed produced QC is better also the material used in Vinyl is better. Also, if you want great Sinatra, try to find his Vinyl where he is in London recording.

I think it’s likely very expensive now, but Natalie Merchsnts, “Tigerlily” sounds absolutely fantastic. It’s a MoFi, but also the only vinyl version available. Blue Note have been doing a fantastic job with the classic series, I own a bunch of them. Loved seeing those records. Thanks, Steph

Steph- Great video. 45 rpm remasters that sound awful, is indeed a fact of life and can happen (mostly due to an engineer who doesn't have a clue or the copy of the master that is just poor)...

The Technics SL-1200's use a Stevenson cartridge alignment. My Ortofon protractor uses a Lofgren B; the Lofgren A is identical to a Baerwald alignment.

I personally liked the way the baerwald sounded with the AT carts, it's worth trying both!

Talking about live albums that balanced perfectly crowd noise. Have you listened to Diana Krall - Live in Paris? At first, I had to check few times if it was a live album as the performance was so clean and the crowd really well placed.

A 70s album recommendation 'Modern Times' by Al Stewart (1975). It was produced by Alan Parsons and has a really nice soundstage. I couldn't tell you which release is the best.

It is not unusual for different types of music, I have two, one is tube and the other is class a solid state mono-blocks. I listen to jazz and classical on the tube set up and rock on the solid state. Btw, I love vinyl and to me it sounds better than digital.

Well................music and sound are ANALOG ............there's no debate other than believers who do not understand you can not compare a technology with a natural event.......digital is processing of analog , code , store, change, decode back to Analog.......t is just like pretending that processed food is more natural and better than real food...........;;they don't know waht they're talking about ......but that's the mindset of the era...........today , everybody is the expert of " nothing "

@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics My mono-blocks are Pass Labs and my speakers are Klipsch Cornwalls so they the sound is still on the warm side despite the amps being solid state.

I sampled that Bruce Cockburn on Apple Music and immediately hopped on Amazon and ordered it for $24. I've always been a progressive rock fan and Yes is one of my favs. I'll have to pull out my copy from back in the day and see how it sounds, and I might order that new version. I had recently played my original copy of Jethro Tull: Aqualung and it really sucked, even though it looked pristine. I know I played the crap out of it back then but always took good care of my vinyl. Anyway I bought a new copy from Acoustic Sounds and it's an improvement. Thanks for the suggestions.

Second helping mastered by ken duncan (kendun in deadwax) was much better master. Ken duncan(kendun) and george piros (atgp,@t/gp) pressings are the ones to look for. Their masters are incredible. For yes, early led zeppelin, 70’s aretha franklin and genesis(most he mastered are reissues), you need to look for george piros’s initials in the deadwax. His stuff is like 0 compression and the bass guitars sound perfect. By far my favorite masters are his stuff. First press young gifted and blackand amazing grace albums he mastered by aretha franklin are INCREDIBLE.
