Welcome to Part 5 of our WRCCA primer mini-series, where we take you through the vehicle setup section of the rule-set. That's Section 2 in the rules document, which is linked below. As well as the 2023 WRCCA rules, we'll also cover two more classes some clubs have adopted for their comps this year as well.
This mini-series will cover all 5 classes of WRCCA, plus 2 additional ones: Super, Pro, Mini, Sportsman, Performance Scale, Pricey's Custom Tuff Truck and Scale-1.
This video is the FIFTH in the series. We take quick look at the PERFORMANCE SCALE class.
Click through to whichever class/es you want to know about, or just watch the whole short series. We hope you find it helpful!

Cheers! Looking at the Axial SCX-10 Pro and hope this would fit nicely. Any other suggestions I’m all ears - your rig looks pretty sweet

Thanks! My SCX10 Pro video review and rock test drops in a few days from now. If you want an out of the box solution that's a brilliant crawler, look at the Ecto, Base Camp, TRX4 Sport RTRs and GMade GS02F kit. The Axial Raw Builder's Kit with INJORA LCG chassis is another great option (and loosely what my P/Scale rig is based on). The SCX10 Pro is a decent start as well, though you'll see my reasoning for recommending the above when that video drops. Cheers

Wow, a lot to unpack there. Appreciate the detailed response - you’re a great authority on Trail n Tech! Looking forward to your take on that rig, but I’ll check into your notes above in the meantime. Not my first rodeo and coming off a Phoenix (which was so nice to build!)

Ah, great! The scx10 pro felt similar to the phoenix on the rocks when I filmed it this week, for whatever that's worth. Well designed, lovingly created, yet limited by poor break over angle. Otherwise, beautiful. I'm a fan of both from an engineering perspective in particular :)

I watched all three of your videos today. Thanks for doing them. I have attended large r/c car races, but for the most part these rules are much more involved and detailed. I could see people showing up at a competition for the first time and not be allowed to run their vehicle because they don't meet a finer point. I understand the chassis drive line rules, servo mounts, tire size, etc. The body rules seem to be very picky. Is there a motor restriction in any of the classes? What about batteries and weight?
@RCTNT

No restrictions on any of those things. Also, for local comps, I'll always let people drive, even if they're out of spec. They can be timed and scored, just not ranked, if they're out of spec. Fun first, comp second!

@@RCTNT Thanks for replying. I surprised that there were not more restrictions on things like the esc and motor. With the new Hobbywing systems with the esc and motor combinations and other esc's and motors would be a huge advantage. That would be true of servos also. I think it's great that people can still participate even if they don't meet all the rules. I would assume that most drivers entering the large competitions have competed in local or club competitions before entering big events.

Often the bigger events attract newcomers, and then they go looking for local clubs and events :) The FOC gear feels great to drive but it's heavy. And with servos it isn't a big deal, my national ranked mini uses a $20 servo, for example :) Tires make a huge difference, and rig setup for low cog and smooth suspension, etc. Not necessarily pay to play, though some expenditure is required. The good news is your money goes a long way when you set up a crawler. Breakages aren't common, so once you get your rig sorted, it'll only need time to maintain. (there are 7 videos in this mini-series, too, btw)

I have looked online for these rules and can not find them. I followed a link to Google docs and it states that the file has been deleted. Is there any way you could post a link? Thanks and good luck in your comp!
