sorry but i was natural all my life and used silicones it was only 5 years ago that i used no silicone that i got thin, dry, broken off hair. I big chopped almost a month ago and ive gone back to silicones! im DONE with this fake natural hair trend that got my lucious long curls bald as fuck. smh.

I'm thinking of going back. Which is why I'm watching this vid and reading these comments. If I could, I would go back to late 90s herbal essence products lmao. They made my hair so happy and smelled so gooooood!

Yea and that makes your hair dry cause silicones and sulfates give your hair a sense of false moisture

Peg-8 and higher are water soluble silicones. They can be washed out with non sulfate shampoos like coco betaine. I went silicone free for 8 years and before had waist length curls and my hair suffered I probably cut off more than 40 inches of hair in that time doing curly girl method. I went back to using water soluble cones with Peg-8 or peg-12. Hair is happy again. I actually buy silicone free stuff and buy peg-12 silicone and add it in my deep conditioner. I know I am the odd curly out. I use sulfate free shampoo and clarify once a month.

Who uses silicone or products with silicone EVERY DAY? That is just ridiculous - that must be why they got the bad wrap. One of the first things that completely irritated me when I went natural was the "gravy train" everyone was obliged to jump on. I never did and I don't follow half of the advice provided. It is all aimed at guiding traffic to certain brands and products. At least here in South Africa. I don't drink that tea, thank you.

Well there are so many products that use it that are doing well. Like Carols Daughter, Aussie, and Bella’s Curls. It may sound like a load of bs but essentially it is what it is. It’s like using products with Sulfate and Parabens. Use them at your own risk but realize the possible consequences. I cannot use it because it makes my hair have so much build up because it doesn’t get absorbed in my strands. But some people can use it without issues and that’s fine. This video was saying if you start having problems with your hair, consider taking a break from silicones to see if that’s the reason.

@@itsem123 I will check it out, thanks. Exactly👏🏽 Look, I have and use some of the culprits I mention (Shea moisture with all its controversy is my fave and Nilotiqa my favourite local brand) but the products are over priced here when comparing to prices/currencies elsewhere. I respect and value advice from these international influencers as opposed to the locals: they are not honest about products, tips and alternatives. They really only push the brands and receive their kick back. Ya, girl 🙋🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍🦱

I shampoo with a sulfate shampoo once a month......so I don't really mind using sulfates, besides i need some silicones to keep the humidity away. But i always make sure to deep cleanse at least once a month.

You do not need silicone to keep the humidity away you need humectants for that in your hair products not like aloe Vera diy gel 😂

Okay so I have a question. In the beginning you said that when you color your hair it is good to use a silicone after to seal in the color. Do you mean a silicone shampoo, conditioner or deep conditioner? And if you have hair that is colored how often should you use silicone to keep the color popping??

Silicone strips the hell out of my hair, dries out, and shrinkage is so bad. My hair reacts tragically when there's silicones and Sulfates does the same too. It's take days up to weeks to get my hair back everytime I think my favorite products are good. I now not struggling with no products I have now. 💜

your hair looks more amazing every time! what is the difference between co-wash and sulfate free shampoo??
@caitlynmartin480
@caitlynmartin480 4 жыл бұрын
A co-wash is like conditioner mixed with a little shampoo. Depending on which one you get, it cleanses very gently. Because it’s mostly Conditioner, it mostly moisturizes your hair. Sulfate free shampoo is a shampoo that doesn’t strip your hair but does clean it well. It should be followed with a rinse out conditioner or deep conditioner to add some moisture back into your hair.

Sulfate free shampoos still sud up or have bubbles. Cowashes don’t. Suds are the enemy of kinks and curls. Cowashes do cleanse though.

I quit I just QUITE I knew the products I love had sillycones in them because all of a sudden most of the no silicone products just disappeared in my local stores. I also knew when a product has them silly cones because my scalp itches, it does not penetrate, and it always leaves gunky residue in my hair. I will have to just cleanse my hair once a week can I can't avoid these stupid silly cones unless I'm able to spent the big bucks and baby my job is robbing my bag regularly oker! Plus my hair is now low porosity so....... I quit.

Thanks for the video - "if you're not cleansing your hair properly" it's a buildup issue... Seems to come down to that Never even knew about the curly girl silicone avoidance until KZfaq.
