They designed the rims and tires to not last. I can prove it easily. The rim size and tire size need to match I order for the seal and the rolling resistance, cornering and they wear evening as they can. What happened here is the rim is too wide for the tire. I have even had this happen to me. It’ll slowly warp the brake rotors. You can laugh and snicker all you want by Tesla is making bizarre and arguably unsafe design choices.

It switches lanes automatically with no need to push turn signal. It's an option to go full auto. We went on 4400 mi roadtrip. It drove 95% of time automatically. We have fsd for both ours. Planning to keep ours for decade like our last car. Spread out its pretty affordable esp if you roadtrip alot. Which you will because auto driving is so effortless.

Another way to disable the autopilot is to press up on the right stick. This way you're brake lights don't come on (provided you have your foot on the accelerator, otherwise regen braking will kick on the brake lights and start to slow the car as soon as you disable AP).

Did the same thing to my wheel/rim the first day and never looked at/worried about it again lol. Gotta just get over it with cars. I have a 2020 M3 and keep it at 70% normally and just boost it to 90% before trips. You don't want to do 100% because regen breaking won't work. Also the charger at home (L2) is such a game changer. I just leave my house with a 'full' car every morning.. It's awesome!

Aside from applying pressure to the wheel, you can just spin the control wheels. A bit easier :). Also to get out of autopilot, you can push up on the right control stalk instead of tapping the brake pedal.

Hello, Sarah. You can cancel from Adaptive or keep in lane mode by pushing left handle up once. No need to step on breaks. Very happy with my Model 3. Have advanced autopilot package. Not FSD. Super easy on highways but on roads with construction you really have to pay attention especially if lanes marking is not there. As for home charging you can use portable charger you have with your car. Just have to get 220v line and get electrician to install oven/drier NEMA outlet. Your speed will jump to 47km/h. So basically you will charge over night and will have car ready to go every morning.

I wear dark jeans every day. For my Model X white seats I use Isopropyl Alcohol in a spray bottle (recommended by Tesla) about every 6 months. If I want to scrub less, I just use a Magic Eraser dampened with Fantastic, Simple Green, etc. Works like a charm. I have 80,000 miles on my 2017 car and so far the Magic Eraser hasn't affected the performance of the seats/coating at all so don't worry about the Twitter comments.

I have this same exact car in Blue. Best car I've ever owned. The hands on the steering wheel thing is a pain. It always tells me to put my hands on wheel when they already are.
@0xVeniVidiVici
@0xVeniVidiVici 3 жыл бұрын
I have a blue model Y as well. The reason for the steering wheel alert is because it is looking for a slight turning force. Not recommending this but you can buy a steering wheel weight that clamps around the wheel to always apply a force for you for those long highway drives.
@dylanlong6269
@dylanlong6269 3 жыл бұрын
@@0xVeniVidiVici Definitely don't do this. Do what Sara showed (hold the bottom of the wheel with one of your hands, except I usually flip my hand over, also you can alternate between hands for long trips) and let the dead weight of your hand/arm pull on the steering wheel a little. Feel free to rest your arm on your leg if that works for you. It takes a while to master, but once you've got it you should almost never get a nag. In case you didn't know, the way nags work is that the motor that turns the steering shaft looks for resistance when it makes adjustments. If you put your weight on the wheel (or turn the wheel yourself) that will make it slightly harder for the motor to turn the shaft, and therefore it knows you're paying attention.

10/10 video Sara! I love your reviews always. I wanted to add something I feel like never gets said about Tesla's; They are honestly great until parts need replacing, the parts are VERY expensive. I work at a shop and we've seen a few Tesla's which were used as taxis, the high mileage in short time always give a great view into the future for what a normal daily driver will experience. Regen braking also saves on pad life, but the calipers rarely get used and can easily seize up over time from lack of use. A step in the right direction in automotive technology for sure, however I feel that the cost of maintenance in the long run always gets overlooked.

Regarding the damaged rim situation. It's bound to happen when riding low profile tires, that's why I personally use "alloygator rim protectors" on my 265/35R21 Model S rims. Have saved me multiple times. European parking facilities isn't designed for wide American cars.

How's their susceptibility to coming off at high speeds? Intriguing product but I keep repetitively seeing online concerns that these things could fly off the rim (like on a highway) and cause even other/more damage than they originally were designed to prevent.

@@progression_decibel I’ve been using them since I got my Model S in 2014. They can be a bit hard to install, so I guess that’s the reason. I usually let my local tire shop install them when I change tires.

On the topic of charging, not all Tesla superchargers are the same. The ones you used the urban model have a maximum output of 72 kW (with no power sharing). Tesla V1 are 120 kW with A/B port power sharing, V2 are 150 kW with A/B port power sharing, V3 are 250 kW (dedicated power). Also, for freezing cold days, telling your Tesla to navigate to the supercharger when there's at least 20% charge left, it will warm up the battery en route so that it can accept the maximum power right away with minimal ramp up.

I don’t like the cup holders. The armrest means you have to pick up the cup from the top which makes me worried I’ll pop off the top and spill everything. And if you lift up the armrest, there isn’t enough room to get your hand in from the side. If I could slide the armrest back a few inches it’d help a lot

Hey Sara. Great video. Good conversational style, and also nice to see a review that has more of a tech focus. I do have a couple of suggestions/constructive criticisms for you that I think will be helpful for your viewers, your battery, and your seats. The first is simply another cleaning suggestion for the white seats - baby wipes. The magic eraser seems to do the job, but I think the baby wipes would be a faster clean. The second is to please please please do some further research re: supercharging best practices. If you are running your battery to "20 or 30 miles", and then setting it above 90% at a supercharger on a regular basis, you are likely shortening the life of the most expensive part of your car. There are some really good videos about this, and I'm pretty sure Tesla will have some advice, as well. I can tell you really love your Model Y, so I hope these suggestions are helpful for you, and make your experience even better. Keep up the great work!

yes, lets talk about "long range" my LR MY is about 30-50mi off of its estimated range every time. It makes no sense to have a linear estimate base on charge level and not driving/usage history. Now Tesla has capped Super Charging to 80% when any given station is "busy" - this is the dumbest and most frustrating thing I've seen them do recently. The entire point of super charges is to support their EVs on long trips and frankly you just need a 100% battery when your car barely goes 300 miles. I drive NYC Denver often and this is super frustrating

It's actually counter-productive to charge to 100% on a trip. This is because the charge speed above 90% is very slow. Better to set the charge limit to 90% and just get on your way when 90% is reached. Also, it is not desirable to let the car sit with a 100% charge for an extended period. Doing this will speed up battery degradation. You should always drive the car immediately after completing a 100% charge.

Ok if I understand correctly auto lane change is engaged when you indicate left or right…I am not sure how things are considered normal the US, but in NL, we are used to FIRST watch if you CAN change lane - so watch if the lane is free…THEN use the indicator. This is because people here are used to that. So if you touch the indicator and THEN the car checks for if the lane is free this could scare the car on the lane next to you. He things you are about to change lanes when he is right next to you…FIRST watch - THEN indicate…not INDICATE, let the car WATCH…possibly wait and then change lanes. My point is mute if you first watch for yourself and then touch the indicator… Hope you guys understand what I am trying to say. In Belgium they just indicate, even if you are just on the lane next to them and it scares the hell out of Dutch people because Dutch rule is after indicating a person is coming to your lane within 1 second…

Please don’t take this the wrong way. Holding the inside of the wheel is dangerous in case of an accident - if it spins suddenly, e.g. when the wheels hit something, it could damage your hand quite severely. Always hold the outside of the steering wheel. Cheers for the great content! 🖖🏻

Old 35W….I spent many an hour SITTING in traffic on that Ft. Worth highway. Nice ride…except the right rear wheel / tire. Hmmmmm I wonder how that happened?

As someone who was born and raised in the DFW area, yes there are way too many toll roads now. It seems like any time a highway is "improved" around here, it's just by adding toll lanes and keeping the existing bottlenecks in place. To make things worse, the toll roads now aren't a fixed amount of money like they used to be; they depend on how much traffic there is. It's BS. Anyway, my model Y will be here in a couple weeks, very excited =)

Caught the inside of the new studio on Shelby Church's vlog, really cool to see the inside here! It looks phenomenal. I just got a new Honda for my first car that has a screen, and it overwhelms this old dude. I couldnt imagine having even more features like this Tesla!

Better NOT kick your Tesla or as a fellow Texan, I'm bringing the calvary along with me! Love the color combo! Was conflicted with this exact combo or white/black/tint "Stormtrooper" look. Both are wins!

The best part of owning any EV is home charging. I didn't hear what your reason was for not charging at home but I would highly recommend getting a 240V charging setup at home if it's at all possible. Basically never need to supercharge again outside of road trips.

I was driving behind a Tesla the other day and actually got really annoyed as they kept slowing down but never used their break or signalled. They accelerated realllllyyyy slow from stop and didn't even know they were slowing down to make a turn. Wish they would have the brake light turn on if your doing one peddle and below a certain speed, it's a real hazard if your stopped but no brake lights on

The chargers not only cost but you will need to have an electrician run a 30amp or 60amp line into the garage. More $$, But if you have an old house you may not have open spaces in your panel and will have to spend even more for a new panel. As you found if your apartment does not have chargers you are out of luck.

Just to clarify, the idling fee at superchargers does not apply when the supercharger station has less than 50% of its spaces occupied.

First of all, I love your personality and you are absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank you for all this information, my hubby and I are looking into getting the Tesla Model Y with 7 seats, but I really wanted to know all the tech stuff and you did an amazing job of explaining it all! I also entered for a chance to win the Model 3
