-------------------------------
From their punchy debut (A-Punk), to the more sonically dense Contra (White Sky), through to the reflective symphonies on Modern Vampires of the City (Step).
Vampire Weekend have made one of the best pop trilogies of the modern day. While going from massively disputed to quite possibly the most respected band in the indie scene. And what makes their execution even more memorable is that they’ve done this while evolving with each ensuing album. Their progression feels so natural and yet they’ve remained recognizably Vampire Weekend. If you listen to their albums in order, it makes perfect sense -- like it was exactly what the group hoped it to be from the very start. Visually they even look connected. But their musical arc is just as much about Rostam Batmanglij’s evolution as a producer and Ezra Koenig’s maturation as a writer.
A story of a band growing up.
-------------------------------

To all my friends who are waking up to the truth, it’s not too late to be saved! The bad news: We are all sinners with a fallen nature. No sin is greater or worse than any other, sin is sin. God is a Holy God and he cannot allow not even 1 sin into heaven. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” The good news, If Jesus could ask his Father to forgive those who tortured, mocked, blasphemed and crucified him what makes you think he won't forgive you!? The Gospel: Jesus paid for our sins so that we might be saved, nothing we can do on this earth can ever save us. Ephesians 2:8-9“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” “Romans 3:20-26 “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” How to be saved? As a repentant sinner Look into your heart and confess: Dear God I am a wretched sinner, as I repent I put my faith that Jesus is God and that he died buried and resurrected so that his blood can wash away my sins I put my faith in that alone to save me not my good works in Jesus name I pray Amen. Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Contra's gotta be my top, both the music and the lyrics are complex and consistently brilliant. Each song has an amazing sense of character. (Which could be said for any one of their albums) Father of the Bride is definitely a new chapter for them, I like the open-ended nature of the video and the inclusion of the Haruomi Hosono song used in '2021' as the background music. Very well done video!

I'm an old fart. I first heard about VW when Joe Scarborough interviewed Malcolm Gladwell about FOBT. I said "Hmmm...," and so began a mild obsession. My favorite album is Modern Vampires of the City. I love the questions it poses and the music is IMO without equal.

I can mimic your story. John Heilemann mentioned FOTB off the cuff the day it was released on Morning Joe, probably a few days or a week or so before Malcom appeared (never heard of the band before that). After hearing John, who I like, appear so excited by it, I thought Hmmm.....and so began my obsession. There was a treasure to discover and 2024 I'm still not over them.

I've only heard fantasies (thanks scott pilgrim), but I wasn't that impressed by it, it was fun but it didn't feel to be anything legendary. Is there another album I should try perhaps?

I had the luck of seeing Vampire Weekend live, here in Portugal, in 2013, the year they released their third album. It still remains as one of my favorite live shows, ever! BTW, I love your videos, how good they are technically, and i think we have a similar taste in music and other areas, which is great.

I’m very glad you talked about Vampire Weekend evolution. They have one of the best discography of this last fifteen years, and Father of the Bride is a great record too! Btw, could you do a video on both Lorde and Ben Howard work/artistic career path? Love your videos man, keep it up!

Interesting to hear you pronounce Rostam's name... I always just call him Batman.

Also, very well edited and presented video essay, even though I've always appreciated this band, this still managed to help me see them in a few different perspectives, great job!

you're one of the most well-spoken people I've ever heard man. What's more is you really know how to captivate an audience and make us all feel so close to the story and its subject

Great work on the video as always. FOTB is amazing in my opinion, I feel, like their previous albums, this is an evolution of the band, not a step back. It's got some really interesting and complex beats and phrases in there.

I grew up on Vampire Weekend & Contra, spent 5th-7th grade on Modern Vampires of the City, and worked on 9th grade homework with Father of the Bride playing. Always loved this band

This was beautifully said. Vampire Weekend has been my favorite band since they started playing and it truly has been magical watching them grow. This video explains Vampire Weekend great and is well said.
