I got this lot of broken Gameboy Advance SP AGS-001 & AGS-101 models off eBay. I managed to pick it up for a super low price. But all these have various issues, ranging from broken screens to non-working buttons. Can I repair them?

Hello friend! The board that was giving you trouble with the brighter AGS-101 screens is the board from an AGS-001 model which does not provide enough voltage to the 101 screen. The 001 boards are marked AGS-CPU and the 101 boards are marked AGT-CPU. Please tell me you kept that board!!

Haha yes I realised this after shooting the video... derp! Yep I kept all the spare parts that I didn't end up fixing in this video, slowly I have been reviving a few of them :)

Friend hope you can help me. My dpad-right button whenever I press it after a second or two it registers as down command. I tried to clean it using ipa 99%. Still the same. Should I replace my buttons? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's usually either a case of a dead battery or dirty power switch. You can try to spray some isopropyl on the power switch and move it on/off about 30 times to clear out some of the grit.

@@hakuzeon498 then its most likely the power switch. if you open the console, spray isopropyl on the switch and repeatedly turn it on and off :)

Have you replaced the battery? I would say that's most likely a dud battery issue.

@@KiloooNL I did replace the battery and try the battery in another GBA SP 101 and the problem was only on the original console. I have kinda fixed the problem after reading countless forum pages, there was one random guy saying that flipping the power switch from on to off a few dozen times (I did like 100-200 times) would fix this. Guess what, I have played over 2hours without the light going red, not even once. Hopefully it it fixed.

@@FredGoesPro Ah yes that is a familiar issue. If it happens again, spray some isopropyl in the power switch and flick it on and off again a bunch of times. Great work in resolving the problem!

@@KiloooNL the problem is still present but it's 95% better, the light flashed once but did not power off. Would it be better if I opened the bottom part of the console? I have a triwing for the screws

@@FredGoesPro Yeah it'll be easier, you just have to remove the bottom section to access the switch, then you can soak it in isopropyl. Failing that you'll have to replace the switch
