Considering Cluny has years worth of combat experience, he's had time to perfect his tactics against his opponents. Plus he wasn't one to try the same trick twice, as was shown quite a bit in this show.

Had Cluny not send Shadow to snatch tapestry piece of Martin the Warrior to reduce defenders morale which is undeniable good idea, had he ordered Shadow to burn the tapestry instead then Cluny and his army would have get inside Redwall Abbey sooner before Matthias could find the sword of Martin. He didn't need the tapestry for his own troop's morale and that certainly lowered Cluny's morale himself anyway.

@@Frostwolf_103 I'm pretty sure the nightmares were caused just because he was attacking Redwall Abbey; regardless of whether he had the tapestry or not. In other books, even without the tapestry, the main antagonist against Redwall often has haunting dreams of Martin trying to slay them.

Times were different then

Just because it's got some elements of darkness, it doesn't mean it's bad. Today's stuff is too fluffy, and that's like flooding the viewers' minds with too much light. As a result, they'll be totally unprepared to handle anything with darkness in the long run.

When I was a child watching the show, I was actually scared of Constance. She seemed very severe. Watching the show now, I could not have been more wrong. She’s such a good person, she just has an air of “straight to business, no bs”

She's the strict teacher. The kids don't like her, but she's right and they'll come to thank her for it when they grow up.

Shes OP in combat too. Dont think shes ever been beaten. Accurate considering how crazy honey badgers are in reality

Wdym too intense? This is pretty tame in relation to how I remember the books being. Not that redwall is exactly bloody or graphic in any sense, but I remember the books being quite gripping to me as a kid

I actually reread one of the later books and they're a whole lot more gruesome than I ever recalled. The body count is quite high, there's a fair bit of "onscreen" blood, and it seems to be a rule of thumb that every villainous character must die a violent and dramatic death. In Taggerung alone (iirc), some vermin get eaten alive by fish (turning the water red) and other get (nearly) skinned alive, attempted "human" sacrifice, a "good" character is crazed after a head injury after witnessing her family massacred, a toddler is pinned by a dead body, children get kidnapped (and some children have a backstory of being beaten), not to mention various impalings, beheadings and other grisly fates by minor characters...again, all in that one book. That particular book doesn't even have the ongoing tradition of Badger Lord characters entering into a "bloodwrath" state where they'll kill anyway around them, including allies. I was less sensitive to violence as a child, or at least naive enough to not consider the implications of skinnings or massacres. The books frequently juxtapose the "meanwhile, the vermin commit x, y, and z atrocities" with the peace of the abbey at the beginning, which is often a disturbing narrative device. When I was a kid, the only things that I paid attention to was good triumphing over evil, no matter how depraved the villain of the week was, and that hope and beauty endured long after darkness and despair. That stuck with me and I'm grateful it did.

It's been around for a while. More importantly there's a huge novel series behind it. Also, Netflix has picked it up

There's a lot of books but Brian Jacques does a good job.

Had she seen none of that, she'd be justified in thinking that the abbey-folk are treating her unfairly. But the fact she did see that, she should be understanding of the redwallers apprehensiveness and she is in the wrong. Btw thanks for uploading this video. This is my childhood.

Well, the mother yucker did have a fate like that coming to him. I mean, sure, the guy is probably going insane, and would probably be dealt with by therapy by today’s standards. However, in those days, Cluny's insanity case was so bad, he was abusive to his own men. Remember Basil’s "battle/duel" with Cluny? Basil even commented on "Officer striking an enlisted creature.".
