"Fly High" is probably the poppiest of the Nightmare arc. It was not done by their usual production team as well. But it makes sense, since this is a prequel, so bringing in a bit of the Minx sound makes sense to me. (5 of the 7 members were in Minx before, a group with a standard cute concept that failed.) There are really heavy parts in it as well, which clearly state that they are not Minx anymore. And I love the dark parts thrown in, they really make the song special. The light part sung by SuA after the metal break is in major, while the rest of the song is in minor. That is why it stands out so much. They did the same in Good Night, but a lot shorter. About the MV: You can see Yoohyeon burning the spider, which brought the curse of the spider queen down on the members. You will see the spider queen again in You and I. In Native American mythology, spiders are considered protectors, that is why a Dreamcatcher resembles a spider's net. That is a brilliant connection to their name! 😊

Fly High was a breakthrough for them and was the basis of their first world tour. Even though they were, and still are, often overlooked in Korea, Fly High brought in the first waves of the international fans that became the basis of their success. For me the most striking thing about Fly High is the video taken of the girl's reaction to their first viewing of the MV. They didn't know what they were going to see. At the end Siyeon burst into tears because she was overwhelmed by the song and the imagery. The tears turned to laughter at the drone shot of the girls spinning around on the lawn. This was when Sunny Visual took over making MV's for Dreamcatcher and they've made everything since then. Great location, ramped up production values, terrifying imagery. Instant classic!

This song gets a lot of first time listeners off guard, heck even I got shocked when I first heard that intro. The mixing of symphonic rock, metal riffs and pop sounds are just so freaking amazing. But trust me, IT GETS EVEN BETTER FROM HERE ON.

I think it's cool that it's more "bright" and "uplifting" than Chase Me and Good Night, because it's a prequel that shows them before they got trapped in the nightmare; but then it has these really heavy parts that are probably heavier than anything in the first two songs. Just very big contrasts. Also at 3:48 did you spot them with the robes and the chained book(s) from Good Night? 😊

dreamcatcher \:D/ I won't go into the visual plot but I'll give you some context for the song and what the nightmare series is really referring to. fly high essentially refers to being successful to the point of faking things and losing a part of yourself to achieve your goals. that's why there's a lot of light/dark imagery with mirrors in this video and throughout many of their other videos. one of dreamcatcher's recurring themes throughout their discography is to be true to yourself and maintain your identity despite external pressures. from this the 'nightmare' the series keeps referring to is essentially a point in life where you feel hopeless to the point of wanting to turn to the dark side. a lot of dreamcatcher's songs are a reflection of themselves because their story is a bit unique at least in their industry. they originally had failed by making music that everyone expected of a 'kpop girl group' but were given a second chance to 'catch' their dreams of being singers. with this second chance, they would make music their way even if it was unpopular in their industry and even in their country. most of their lyrics are very abstract but if you listen to enough of their songs you can piece it together. one song 'endless night' is a more clear cut example of a recurring theme in their discography - don't give up on your dreams and don't let dreams be dreams. anyways fly high is personally one of my favorites. yes it's very poppy but that's by intent since dreamcatcher uses music to tell a story. the lighter and brighter aspects of the song tell of a time when things were more innocent since fly high is the prequel to the darker events that happened in chase me and good night. that's why you have darker metal stabs throughout the song, to foreshadow the impending darkness.
