On one of my last stops on my trip back in September. I stopped at an abandoned asylum turned into a park from the state. Which people can walk around if they'd like. Just around 20 miles away from New York City.
Letchworth Village, is an unique institution because of it's idea of making a "village" out of the hospital instead of just one building. Sadly like a lot of mental institutions of the past, it has succumbed to an unfortunate fate of neglect and abuse of it's patients. That it was eventually closed down in 1996. And left to be abandoned. There was so much to explore, being what felt like an actual village, true to it's name. That if I'm ever in that direction will definitely need to explore more.
