Hey guys today I am sitting down, playing with my Colourpop x RBK collection and talking to you about motherhood, finding myself again, trying to rediscover new interests (flower gardening, landscaping, interior design, playing guitar, painting etc) and talking to you about my mental health, anxiety and how I am feeling at almost 5 months postpartum. Things are SO MUCH BETTER and also talking to you about not stating absolute statements - things change every single day, emotions are fleeting and even if there is a rough day, knowing that not every single day will be the same. These have all helped me immensely. Lets chat & hang out!

Am I orange lol that warmed my heart. What you learn as a parent is that it doesn't matter what people think and God help anyone that is judging your child. My son has adhd and ADD really difficult but I got to the point where I told friends and family this is how we are dealing with him you are either on board or you are not apart of our lives. I have no time for people giving advice about something they know nothing about and I told them flat out I only have short time to raise this child and I will not indulge your stupidity. I was ruthless but it worked and he has grown into a beautiful man a husband, father, responsible adult no thanks to the judge assholes in his past. You are the only defender they have and you must be brave and have their back. You will do this Kristi and it will make you stronger I guarantee it. I have a suggestion for books Dr.sheftali she was on Oprah. If your child has adhd Dr.Gabor Mate is the very best even if you have a difficult teen these two authors could help.

Most children with this condition have terrible anxiety and shame it is relentless, they are always being told what they did wrong and never what they did right. They must be brave and strong everyday just to do normal stuff,it is exhausting. Helping your brother know he is loved because he exists not because of his achievements. Be kind these children so rarely are shown kindness it breaks my heart. Teach him about emotions help him distinguish between sadness, frustration etc ask him if he needs help, teach him to break up big things into smaller jobs to make it easier for his shorter attention span. I didn't want children until I was 35. I noticed myself growing bored with stuff I previously got hyped for (holidays, trips, rewatching movies I love). I wasn't depressed or anxious; I just realized that I was limited to only seeing the world through my own eyes. Experiencing it through someone else is a way of doing it over for the first time. It's cool that you pointed out this aspect of why people want to become parents.

No one ever talks about this, but it's so true. Having a kid is in some ways like recapturing your own childhood--or for some, really experiencing it for the first time, because their awe and wonder is contagious. My daughter was a “miserable” baby. She was either sleeping or crying. The thing that saved my sanity was when my pediatrician told me that very intelligent children are sometimes very frustrated with their baby bodies. They have the intelligence and the desire to do way more than their bodies allow so they are constantly frustrated. In time when they grow and they are able to do more, they feel less frustration.

I would want to be completely financially stable enough to be able to provide them with a life that I could only ever dream of, not materialistically, but that I'm present and not having to work 24/7. I have very little memory of my parents being there in my childhood and I'd hate to do that to my own kids. I came for the makeup (a few years ago) and stayed for your personality and love seeing all the changes in your life. Knowing you suffer from occasional depression and hearing you take joy in bees and flowers and (obviously) baby smiles, is so hopeful. Your life seems to reflect all the colors of your pallet. Natural and bright and deep all in one.

I really, REALLY needed to hear this. My daughter was such a happy baby, she’ll be 2 in June and I’ve been at my wits end with her. I literally sobbed to my husband last night saying I’m so overwhelmed with her. She’s so whiny, and screams when she’s mad, and she’s mad a lot. She can’t voice to me what’s wrong yet and it’s making me worry about something being wrong with her. I felt so bad admitting that my son (who’s almost 9 years older) made me happy and excited to be a mom when he was her age, and she makes me not like it sometimes. They’re just so different and my son was literally the epitome of what you would want as a baby and toddler to even now. He kind of caused me to have rose colored glasses when it came to what being a mom looks like. I don’t want to compare them, but it’s hard not to when they’re polar opposites. It’s not bad all the time, and I know that, I just have to get through it. I’m so glad you gave me that reminder...this time, these bad moments, my hurt feelings are fleeting and it will get better. That’s why I love ya♥️

Something I learned in my developmental psych class is that infants don’t start forming episodic memories until they are 3 years old. So, if you make little mistakes they won’t remember it. Hope this helps!

I absolutely have memories before age 3. One of them I remember wearing Cabbage Patch diapers as well as the exact placement of the changing table at my grandfather’s old house that they had moved out of by the time I was three. My mom has confirmed all of the details so while rare maybe, it is definitely possible to have memories before age 3!

@@saradorman7377 So what you're referring to are called semantic memories; memories of general information and facts. Episodic memory refers to memories of specific events; remembering where you were during 9/11, recalling that one time your dog spilled soda all over your mom, remembering how your family packed into the car and drove to another state because of a natural disaster, etc., are all episodic memories. Most of our explicit memories are semantic, and semantic are also more likely to be accurate than episodic.

One thing I was told after I had my oldest was that babies, like adults, feed off of our energy. When we’re anxious, they cry, then we get more anxious, and it’s a vicious cycle. When we’re chill and happy, they feel that, too, and will relax as well. In the moment, that is such an impossibility- but it’s so true! As I added children to our family, it got easier. I trusted myself more, I realized my own strengths and weaknesses... growing a family is a beautiful thing, and teaches us so much.

People use to say you must suck as a parent to be grossed out by their body functions but I learned to not let that get to me because I have kept 7 humans alive well fed ,clothed , and sheltered not many can do that with that number of kids so I try to find the positives of the things I do and can do vs the one flaw I have. Everyone with kids will be pushed to their limit but I know I'll never catch my kids or anyone's kids vomit in my hands just nope cant do it so I make up for that in other ways lol .

The older I get, the more I enjoy variety in the KZfaq videos I watch. Especially in chill videos like this. So I appreciate you talking about all the things and not just makeup. I think you're great and love hearing what you have to say.

I'm a mom of two, both school age now. But I definitely did NOT like newborn stage. I came to LOVE motherhood once they hit 4 months old. I think what really helped was the reciprocal feeling of the relationship at that point. The baby is much more engaged with you, smiling and giggling, less fragile and sleeping longer. I fondly remember the age your baby is at now and can so relate!
