The guy that ordered the knife sheath wanted a holster to go with it. I got free hands and this is the result. enjoy..

Just remember that the leather comes from the skin of a beautiful animal that we should be appreciative of that animal's sacrifice that sustains humanity giving us food and clothing people seem to forget about those details

Excellent your work! I am passionate about everything that concerns the Wild West. I have a replica of the Remington 1875 and I made the holster myself. However, I don't have specific tools for working on leather. I improvise and all the work is manual, including sewing. Following your video, I learned many things and I will manufacture another holster for my revolver using some techniques that you show. unfortunately, here in Brazil, third world, many of these tools are not found. Many I manufacture myself. Congratulations on your beautiful work. I am from the city of Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. At my house, I have the United States flag. I admire the American people and their history. You got a like and one more subscribed to your channel. I have an airgun and airsoft customization channel. The name is Airguns & Airsofts May God protect you!

I have seen numerous versions of an old west holster i do not know the proper name of it (so anyone i talk to knows what i am talking about) but its an all in one set up theres no seperate holster and belt, it seems like that would be a very specific rig and extremely custom who would make such a holster and would imagine it wouldn't be cheap simply because of the material involved instead of multiple smaller pieces of leather it would have to be made from a single large piece

@boothillcustomleather86523 жыл бұрын

I do this at Halloween every year. I have an old duster (trench coat), black Stetson and a 45 cal SAA with a drop loop holster (with leather thong to tie it to my thighs) and gun belt. I wear it all day, especially if I go out to run errands (my state allows open and concealed carry), and answer the door to give out candy to trick and treaters. I actually get a good many more compliments rather than double take glances ("is he really . . .").
@edgarmilson86863 жыл бұрын
I hope you do not get shot at! I think the only reason I would carry a gun would be because of wild animals like wolves and poisonous snakes. But you have the right to carry them. All the best, Edgar

Very nice ! How about a mountian man bowie knife sheath ! It's like a pounch sheath only 1 belt loop on the cutting edge side just below the handle ! There were some on jaima johnson movie ! The knife has no top of the hilt the bottom part of the hilt stop on the sheath welt ( the spacer ) and the tip doesn't toch the bottom of the sheath Only to parts fold over with a spacer and a belt loop ! Ifcyou have seen the old buck knife sheaths ( not the new ones ) without the flap and with and integral loop . Stands with a fist wears one in dances with wolves ! It can go inside or outside the belt .

this is only a decortive holster right cause without putting a soft layer on the inside it would just act like sand paper to remove the guns finish?
@boothillcustomleather86523 жыл бұрын
Nope, an authentic holster. It doesn't wear at the finish. I used a pair just like that for 4 years in cowboy action shooting and it didn't wear at the finish.. Some use suede in there holsters and that wear at the finish
@pinkraes Жыл бұрын
I’m just getting in to leather work and stumbled onto your video. What an amazing holster, beautiful piece of work. My only question, at the very end you sewed two to three stitches, holding the part of the holster that holds the gun, to the back of the loop of the holster that the gun holster slides down through. When you sewed it together, you now can’t pull the gun holster out of the loop you made, in order for it to attach over the belt. How will it work with the stitch holding it together?
@boothillcustomleather8652 Жыл бұрын
I do it so the holster can't slide up when the gun is drawn. You don't need to pull the holster to attach it over the belt, just slide the belt through

In my opinion I don't like the Copper rivets and no gusset and no soft leather lining it makes it look cheap but that just my opinion. I've been doing leather work for 40 years so I do have a minute or two of experience but other than that good job.
@boothillcustomleather8652 Жыл бұрын
So? I don't care about other options, just what my customers want. 40 years doesn't mean that you're better than someone else, IMO.

@@boothillcustomleather8652 you didn't see me say that I'm better than anyone else however 40 years experience separates beginners from professionals in any profession. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.one can always lurn something from others.have a good day.

@Roger. Backus with your experience, you should know that they often use copper rivets in holstermaking and that many holsters were lined with softer leather back in the days (the western era). My feelings isn't hurt, I just knows alot about western leather.
