Unfortunately, this is why people are so scared to have their antique items "restored".. you made a good effort, but it fell short. That blade needed aviut 6 hours more polishing, that handle was sub-par, and the scabbard won'tast 5 minutes. Entertaining tk watch, but it hurt seeing a 170 year old knife be ruined like that.

А никому не показалось что на обгоревшей рукояти почему то белый пепельный цвет? И это значит что рукоять горела не так давно. А не лежала обгоревшая долгое время.

I don't like it, you didn't keep anything from the original appearance of the knife. Only grinders and files, you have ruined the look and value of this knife.

Nice job done on that dagger ! The scabbard deserved a better paint job and a nicer colour ... or to be wrapped in a piece of thin leather . ( Black , dark red , dark green , brown ... whatsoever )

I would have dismantled it and then welded a piece of metal to the end of the tang, then made a thread on the new tang. Once that was done, I would have remade the handle and refitted it so that the extended tang protrudes from the handle. Then I would manufacture a custom made turned pommel piece to be installed by matching the thread on the tang with a threaded hole in the pommel, I would probably make the pommel from solid brass and maybe give it the form of an acorn, especially if I had obtained a piece of figured oak to make the handle. The sheath or scabbard would have been greatly improved by soldering the two liners together and covering it with a thin leather such as kidskin or even snakeskin and then putting brass mounts at both ends with a small brassed chain to attach it to the users belt.
