Yeah. According to Chris Tulloch, the episode was about Hercules having to bring in 2-3 ocean liners during bad weather. The episode would've impossible to film due to how big the liner models were. They already had trouble trying to fit one onto the set, having to move buildings around so the liner model could fit onto the set. Its replacement would be "High Winds", written by Chris Tulloch in two days. The Star Tugs Trust are known to have a script to this episode, being titled "Hercules", but it has yet to have been shown off outside of a VIP event in 2019.

I have to agree with that, I grew up with thomas as well but only found out about tugs recently, but its so well made its honestly a shame it never got it's 2nd season. Atleast it has a dedicated fanbase keeping the series alive, there's alot of shows that don't even have that

Oh wow I had no idea! it makes me love sunshine more than I already do, I already knew about sunshine wanting to sink himself but I didn't know he had no original crew! ahh if only the show continued past 13 episodes, they could've possibly explored this more. What were the tie in books that explained all this called? I'd love to read 'em. Its funny that you mention EastEnders because when I showed a school friend tugs, she said that the theme song reminded her of Downton Abbey, another British drama lol. The book the 'orphan' quote comes from is the 1989 Annual - there's no scans of that page online (yet - I'm working on it lol), but his full bio combined from a few sources reads thusly: "Upriver toughie, a fighter. Sunshine is regarded as an orphan tug, but Captain Star makes him part of his family of tugs when he buys him. He may find the Bigg City slightly awesome, but he's there to learn, but no one takes advantage of him. He's a natural best friend for Ten Cents. Has a huge heart." Some interesting tidbits arise from scrutinising the bios too - there's an absolutely _brilliant_ subtext to Ten Cents' original dynamic within the fleet. Again combined from several sources: "Captain Starr's first tug. He is harbour wise and a Master Switcher, very experienced in the activities of the Port. He is a macho boyish character, with a tough and resilient exterior yet inside he can be hurt. Gives as good as he gets from bigger tugs. The dockwise natural leader of the Starr Tugs." Basically, Ten Cents was _supposed_ to be the fleet's leader - except none of the other tugs actually respected him in that role, bar his older brother Hercules (you might've noticed they're the only two with Eagle-Works workshop sigils). Top Hat constantly put him down unprompted because he resented being subordinate to a switcher. It creates an absolutely fascinating complex situation - Hercules defers to Ten Cents to handle things when he's out of the port ("Look after the Duchess for me, won't you?") but is away so often that he doesn't realise just how bad things are when he's not there. As a result, Ten Cents puts on a front that he's able to handle things, despite being overworked and actively bullied by Top Hat. It's only after Sunshine arrives that he finally has a true peer, and the fleet's dynamic shifts subtly but significantly - until then, they were legitimately _dysfunctional as heck_ - and Captain Star wasn't doing ANYTHING to curb this. Honestly this show is so incredibly fun to analyse, they had SO many mature and complex stories planned for this. :D

I love the idea of Sunshine while still being the new kid, knows how to look after himself and wont allow anyone to talk down on him because of his past bad experiences. Plus him making Ten Cent's and the whole Star Fleet's lives better and more functional just shows how important he is to the team. However, a part of me is glad that they didn't go with this root completely since Top Hat would go from being a dickhead that was still well meaning and cared for the team to being completely cruel . I like how the Star Tugs in the final show get along with each other while still having disagreements and mishaps, its the Z Stacks that are the dysfunctional ones and I believe their team would start to full apart as soon as someone within the team stands up to Zoran (preferably Zebedee). I think the best way for them to go about it is having the star tugs as they were in the series, but still having the orphan tug backstory for Sunshine and having him be a positive influence in Ten Cent's life

Yeah. And I do agree when you said they should bring the show back, but I would really hate for it to have many seasonal rots like its sister show Thomas, and get a reboot nothing like the original like Thomas.

@@joshproductions07 Yeah that would suck, but if a show like tugs were to be brought back to the limelight, I'm sure it means that the people doing it would have the best of interest in mind, since tugs isn't popular enough in the public eye to do it for the sake of nostalgia/marketing

I’m pretty sure in both the Starr Tugs and the Pink Tug scripts he did _indeed_ scuttle himself. The part with him running into the liner was still kept (as seen in Sunshine lmao)

I can understand why you feel that way, theres alot of series that have been squandered overtime. Not to mention are current social climate and how quick people are to complain about minor things in shows. But atleast tugs has a good fanbase that will keep its legacy and original intent alive, the show isn't popular enough to even get a chance of being rebooted anyway (Also does salty's lighthouse really count as a reboot? I thought it was some cashgrab redub meant to get a younger audience to like it or something)

Those characters seem really fun and I'm glad that this great series helped inspire you, its funny that you mention humanised ten cents since I've actually drawn some human tugs designs as well lol (none of them are finalised though). I love watching obscure media as well, especially animated TV shows, I've heard of the messy production of thief and the cobbler but I've not heard of the king and the mocking bird, thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'll have to look into it
