Ethiopia was my accident too. 😀 I had never visited Africa before and was invited to a conference in Addis. That's when our other big customer asked whether we had, by any chance, someone from my team in Addis just the week before my conference... Well, you're a VERY lucky one here. I of course took the opportunity to visit Lalibela and other places. Unlike Barb, I prefer rural areas. They're more authentic, less polluted and I feel the country a lot more than in places like Addis. I also visited Addis pre-pandemic and came back recently. The city evolved a lot. Regardless, Ethiopians are great people and I really enjoy working with them.

Greetings to Ethiopia from a Oriental Orthodox Copt from Egypt. Historically the Ethiopian and Nubian kingdoms would speak on our behalf to the rulers whenever us Copts faced hardships after the Arab invasion. Forever thankful to your people

Never knew that, so the copt church was forced to completely cut ties with European church’s after ottoman rule? Also how were the copts able to contact Ethiopian church’s, if the ottomans and Ethiopians were in conflict?
@epchoisnainan1110
@epchoisnainan1110 9 күн бұрын
@@seesee2132 ifs not just Ottoman rule which came later on but since the earliest caliphates in the 7th century. The Coptic and Ethiopian Orthodox churches would send messengers to each other, at times secretly since some caliphates forbade our communication with them, big we had to do it because the Coptic Pope had to constantly appoint a new Metropolitan for Ethiopia, who then was the one who would then crown every Ethiopian emperor and manage the church in Ethiopia
@epchoisnainan1110
@epchoisnainan1110 9 күн бұрын
@@seesee2132 ties with the European churches weren’t the same since Copts arent in communion with any except the Armenian church which is Oriental Orthodox like we are, so limitations on ties to Europes churches didn’t effect us much. We had already been out of communion with the proto-Roman catholic Eastern Orthodox churches of Europe since the council of Chalcedon in 451

I'm one of those diaspora kids Abdullah spoke about. I grew up here in LA, but visited a few times during childhood. Now that I'm an adult, I really appreciate how unique Ethiopia is. The rich cultural heritage, the stunning landscapes, and the resilience of the people, and all the other things I couldn't fully grasp as a child who just wanted to visit Tropicana arcade lol. Nowadays I try and visit yearly to stay connected. It's not without its challenges, but there's something in the air that really connects you to the present moment and appreciate the important things in life

I was born and raised in Ethiopia (specifically adama) and moved to the states and it’s unfortunate to say i didn’t recognize some of the areas on the video filmed in adama(with the exception of sodere resort, growing up that was our vacation spot), specifically the forest where you did the drone shot revealing the scenary. But overall your video brought nostalgic feelings seeing the motherland. ኢትዮጵያ ለዘላለም ትኑር::🇪🇹

I'm not watching many Geography videos now (I guess that maybe there is so much information that I feel that I can't remember almost anything and it saddens me?) but these videos that seem more chill do give you a lot of information, and the fact that it's a story of a trip maybe makes it easier to remember some information on the long term. Here in Israel we have Ethiopian jews that have been coming here since 1985. I was suprised how they kepped the jewish tradition so many years. I tasted their bread the Inrjera its deferent but good.

Nothing makes me happier than when I hear people from the country approving of the video I made for their country, I know obviously there was so much I missed out on, I didn’t even get to check out the major sites and stayed relatively close to the capital area, but still,I tried my best and hopefully I can come back and see more

@@GeographyNow I only saw one real mistake which was the kitfo/kurt confusion which others mentioned. If any of you come to Ethiopia to explore let me know because a lot of development has happened even since the last trip. Anyone coming to Ethiopia can reply to me here under this comment, we can get in contact and help you navigate the country however you need. I am an Addis lij but I have seen many parts of my beautiful country and I have contacts who will help you
