The man, the myth, the legend.. Lev Yashin.
Nicknamed "The Black Spider", this man remains the only goalkeeper who won a Ballon d'Or.
Great positioning, reflexes, reactions and important saves.
He is an inspiration to all goalkeepers and it is easy to understand why.

The over 150 pk saves is obvs bs. He played around 400 official games and around 800 unofficial games total, that would mean he would have faced an absurd amount of penalties with an otherworldly save rate, saving a penalty every 5 games. Единственный вратарь в истории, получивший "Золотой мяч". Признан "Лучшим вратарём в истории" по версии журнала France Football. Вот бы хоть одним глазком увидеть лишь один его матч с трибуны стадиона... Oh, Lev Ivanovich Yashin. This man is a legend. The best goalkeeper of the XX century. "Black Panther". Gold of the European Championship, gold of the Olympic Games. Five-time champion of the USSR, three-time winner of the USSR Cup. The only goalkeeper in history who received the Golden Ball. Recognized by France Football magazine as "The best goalkeeper in history". I would like to see at least one of his matches from the stadium stand with at least one eye...

Don't forget that the balls used during his era made goalkeeping a lot more tougher. His career was in between the period before and after the introduction of the 32 panel design so balls weren't as accurate in shape and lacked optimum roundness which made it incredibly harder to judge when hit and even more tough to handle. Aerial balls were tough to predict due to the inconsistency in movement but yashin literally handles it like he could catch it even when asleep lol.

I remember when at the England vs The Rest of the World game at Wembley in October 1963, Yashin was in goal for the Rest of the World team in the 1st half, a cross from the English left wing was met by the England Centre-forward Bobby Smith, with a firm header, Yashin was at the near post, so he had to throw himself from that side of the goal to tip Smiths header over the bar! One of the best saves that I have ever seen, on a par with Gordon Banks save, to deny Pele in the World Cup in Mexico 1970!
