I have been on Paxil for 25 years now. It really helped me with my Anxiety Disorder and Panic Attacks that I was prescribed for. I have tried many times to get off this drug as I do not think I need it anymore but the withdrawal symptoms were to severe and I have not been able to. Always looking for a better way to get off the Paxil. Thank you for all the wonderful information. 🦋

I used it for probably two years, then wanted to get off all meds as I was happy again and ready to be free of medicine. The withdrawals were so incredibly bad I almost didn't make it and considered taking it again just to make it stop. I hung in there and got through it, but barely.

I was on Paroxetine for 15 years and it helped me so much until it just stopped working. My anxiety and panic attacks came back with full force. My doctor increased my dose from 20mg to 30mg and nothing helped. I've been put on Effexor 150mg for around 3 months. I feel better but not 100% yet. I'm scared that one day the meds will stop working for me

Tolerance sucks. And then it’s really hard swapping meds. Especially with a risk for serotonin syndrome when we mix serotonergic drugs. The cross taper over is super important. I experienced medical malpractice and iatrogenesis and was cold turkeyed off six psych meds at once … klonopin was one of those -_- … prior to that from ages 22-24 I was tried on cocktails totaling to 30 psychotropic drugs (this is the wrong way to treat patients!) ex). 3 drugs, change meds four days in a row, no washout period … it was a disaster… had to reinstate two meds.. updose to stabilize…And I’m almost off everything . I never want any human being to experience what I have…. For me personally the medications and then the withdrawal created actual illness I never had before, and took minor issues of anxiety and ocd to chronic issues. This happens too often in America due to polypharmacy. If there’s hope for me to get better there is for anyone. Our brains do heal. Being on meds is a choice patients should make with their dr having full informed consent. That’s why I love these videos. I was going to become a psychiatrist out of my experience but now I’m signed up for the nursing program and will be a PMHNP. I’ll be able to do all the same things I want to do as a psych. Just under dr supervision. :) you’ll get better!!!

I was on Paroxetine (on and off ) for 12 years. It is the only one ISSR class that works for me, other issr or any other classes (ex. MAO don’t work for me. My side effects on Paroxetine: 60 pounds gained in 1 year, as a consequence fatty liver + mild liver fibrosis). I was hungry all the time and I never had the sensation of full stomach . My hypothalamus wasn’t able to control this. Interrupting temporary Paroxetine , I started a healthy lifestyle and I lost some weight and I wasn’t hungry. Still, I have to take Paroxetine due to the fact that i had ptsd after some severe traumas and my sympathetic division is activated at maximum level even for insignificant things. I work in medical field and i understand the risk for Paroxetine but unfortunately there’s no ISSR without side effects. Paroxetine has the worst side effects, that’s true. I take 10 mg instead 20 mg. Lower dose is not so bad.

I started taking paxil at 15 years old for social anxiety disorder at 20 mg . I didn't understand why I was getting prescribed an anti depressant when I was really not depressed, I was living in fear everyday, not depressed. I thought that might cause problems and later in life it really did. I went from 20 mg to the maximum dose, 60 mg, later in my life. I am 37 now and In the last year, i very slowly, which is really important if withrawing, went down from 60 mg to 20 mg and I will eventually stop it for good, which I thought I would never be able to do because everytime I tried to quit, it was just getting worse. I tried quitting for years but trying to quit cold turkey or too fast is 1 of the worst nightmares I went through. I also learned that eating and digesting food creates serotonin and a problem that I had for years was eating before I was going to bed, also with only having moved around very little all day, which logicaly made me understand that I wouldn't digest a lot at night, then I wouldn't be hungry during the day so I wouldn't eat during the day, so I wouldn't secrete serotonin during the day, so I would have no energy, I didn't even have the energy to take my shower. Not spending energy during the day made me sleepless at night and eating before going to bed made the cycle keep going. Leave yourself 3 to 4 hours to digest before going to bed is best and whether it's best for you to take your meds earlier or later during the day, the most important is to take them at the same time everyday to avoid an imbalance which is 1 if not the main reason to take ssri's. Taking paxil really helped me, even saved my life. It blocked a lot of my fears but also took away a lot of my emotions which I figured out, had everything to do with my motivation. To me, taking paxil was lifes way of helping me confront my fears and stop me from ruining my life and others with my irresponsible behaviors. I hope with all my heart that my experiences will help you and others. Thank you so much for taking the time to have read my book of a comment lol

I was on this for years as a teen and young adult for GAD and Panic Disoder... About 2001-2008 the sexual dysfunction was horrible (I'm a male btw), it did work for my panic attacks until it diden't! So let me say one thing the withdrawal from PAXIL is intense and very long lasting in my case anyways. Not only did I have a rebound effect with panic attacks I had what I can only describe as Brain Shocks or short-circuiting... Yes it sounds weird but it was a constant on and off thing for about a year and a half AFTER ceaseing all Paxil use! I would NEVER in my life EVER recommend anyone take this unless you have no choice, and even then I would never go on this...

Excellent presentation! I will subscribe, as I found it objective. Great pace, pronunciation and I believe your final assessment was honest. Everyone has biases but we can benefit greatly from distinctions between facts and opinion. The background, lighting, editing and personal appearance are professional enough and your eyes weren’t darting over at a text, though this wouldn’t be a dealbreaker. I recently tapered off a benzo, after 30 years of use, and am lining up for a Paxil taper, after approximately 20 years of use. After quitting alcohol in 2009 and nicotine in 2011 (27 year habit!), I’m confident in my ability to come off a substance. From your video, I just learned that Paxil is offered in liquid form which is wonderful. Only in the past few months have I learned of Paxil’s notorious withdrawal complications. I say bring it on. I also am in no hurry. Though only on 20mg, if it takes a year, so be it. Thank you.
@LevelheadedMind
@LevelheadedMind Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. And congratulations on coming off benzos, alcohol and nicotine! I believe you will do fine coming off Paxil as you have the right mindest about it and know what you're getting into. Definitely take it slow and listen to your body as you go down on dosages. If you get the liquid I would decrease by 1 to 2mg every month. Good luck 👍

I've been withdrawing from Paxil for a few years (I've been taking 20mg of it for 25 years - I've been trying to get off it for 15 years). The withdrawal effects are terrible at times. I will ultimately have to stay at 5 mg for now. I can't get through it at the moment :( (I went too fast - I went down 1.25 mg in a month. I stopped there 80 days ago today, but I'm not getting better, in fact I got worse this week). I haven't been able to see my boyfriend for 2 and a half months - I felt so bad. I'm about to lose him. Thanks for the advice to help with weaning. I will ask for that eventually.

I gained a few happy years to my life with paroxetine (depression/social anxiety totally gone) until it totally stopped working after 5 years of use. The level of anxiety and other new symptoms were like out of a nightmare, feels like I've lost a half decade just to recover from terrible withdrawal. My biggest grudge is that no doctor ever warned me about the difficulty of withdrawing, funnily no doctor even saw my "new" symptoms as withdrawal symptoms. Would not ever go back on it.

Got tinnitus from the very first pill. Pill pusher doctor said it wouldn’t do that. Major coincidence if it didn’t cause it. So I kept taking them for four years. Now years later, I found out it CAN cause tinnitus. My tinnitus is permanent but maybe if the doctor had told me to stop the drug, the tinnitus might not be permanent. I’ll never know. Also, I’ve since heard of someone else who got tinnitus from Paxil. My advice…..try a different antidepressant.

I’ve been on 30mg Paxil for two years. It helped my depression and now that it has been this long and I have learned more life coping skills, I would like to taper off. I’m always tired and I’ve gained a lot of weight. I’m hoping to lose the weight once I’m off. I won’t go back on it if I get depression again- even in severe depression, I hope to try more intense exercise, diet and therapy. I would really like my brain to try to recover from the stress of depression on its own if possible. Numbing out is helpful for the first few hard episodes of life- but I hope that with age and experience, I have learned some skills that will keep me away from strong meds such as Paxil.

Hello, I am 74 years old. I have been on Paxil for over 30 years, 30 mg. I suffer from depression, panic disorder, long term PTSD, with a touch of bi-polar thrown in. Over the last couple of years I have developed a heart condition, LBBB, and I have 1 stent. Last fall I started having serious angina with my heart beat being around 90 bpm. My cardiologist has put me on a beta blocker, Nebiviolol. This has mostly relieved my angina with my heart beat now around 70 bpm. I have slowly stared to stop using Paxil, with a hope to switching to Psilocybin. I live in Portugal where all drugs have been decriminalized. What danger do you think I’m in while trying to get off Paxil and using my beta blocker? Thank you.

I've been on Paroxetine for over 5 years. It worked great but over time the effect has worn off some. I've tried coming off this drug three times and each time the withdrawal was so horrible and long lasting that it was determined to go back to normal dose. I get sick if I miss one dose and trying to come off it caused severe nausea and vomiting, uncontrollable blood pressure increases & sudden drops, severe headaches, dizziness, eratic heart racing, and nearly passing out. I was hospitalized to help and after two weeks the withdrawals had no improvement. I'll never be able to come off this drug.

I think persons exeperience with all mental antidepressants that determine what is best for everyone regarding scientific data that shows Antidepressants treat major depression in the first place howver. side effect wether is positive or negative depends on our journey. Personally i have experienced all ssri medecine. I figure out Paroxetine does not affect erectile function and sexual drive except ejaculation too fast. No ssri antidepressant do that to erectile dysfunction was the problem of SSRi Antidepressants except paxil. Any way i am alwyas on the of cons and pros to see what is the best that work for my depression journey Stay save patients guys. Evaluate every step of all Antidepressants we are on the way to fight depression. Never understimate treatment with Antidpressants with others tools to fight depression.

My name is Jezel, and Rahul is my editor. However, with such little options I think it's best to look for root causes. Do nutritional evaluations, diet assessments, complete health work ups and fix root causes. Therapy should be first-line treatment as well.

I got into an accident and was in a coma for several days, weeks in hospital so couldn't take my paxils. When I woke back up, I never had those bad withdrawal effects and didn't take it anymore. If you do try to taper it off, I recommend dropping the dosage 2,5mg once every 10-14 days.

When I turned 19 I lost my health insurance. I had one last bottle of Paxil and planned on tapering to get off of it since I no longer had insurance. Well, I ended up losing my bottle of pills and therefore quit Paxil cold turkey. It was horrible, I felt like there were jolts of electricity going through my body and my brain. This lasted about a week or two. I’d feel kinda normal then I’d have a bolt of lightning shoot through my brain. It really sucked. As I look back at that, twenty years later, I wonder if my life was in danger, or if those were seizures.

95% of all serotonin in the body comes from microorganisms in the small intestines. I've never understood how these antidepressants could be used to increase serotonin when its a dietary issue. Seems like not eating a crap diet of lots of refined sugars, carbs and heavily processed foods would do more for serotonin levels. I guess drugs make better money though.
@jordanslingluff287
@jordanslingluff287 11 ай бұрын
@@Karenmarie-ns3mi It still will eventually oxidize though or at least it seems like it would? I mean all you have to do to get more serotonin is exercise and eat better. I guess I don't see where the dope comes in over basics Hell these pills adversely effect smooth muscles. That's intestines, that's where tryptophan and naturally occuring serotonin come from. Now that you are holding serotonin you are also disrupting your bodys natural production cycles by making your body think it's not needed. Seems more like they want you hooked on pills for life rather than helping. It's no wonder people get suicidal on these pills.
