Miss Levon, Rick and Richard. The Band was soooo good. Knowing their story is unfortunate but together or alone they gave us some of the best rock music

I like the way he's holding up his fingers, telling the band what chord he's on. one, four and five.
@JOHNSAG17 жыл бұрын
That's because he is a drummer ..
@mrsweettater7 жыл бұрын
ya seem kinda tense Mr. Branham. He's holding up one finger to indicate that the song is on the root chord, and a four or five to indicate that the song is on the fourth or fifth chord. So if the song is in the key of G, it's the 1 and C is the 4 (four notes away) and D is the 5 (5 notes away). He doesn't actually have to be playing an instrument but he knows the song and some of the band does not, so he's telling them what chord is being played.
@brianbranham19777 жыл бұрын
mrsweettater All they have to know is the key...if they understand how keys work then they shouldn't have to be told what the root is or any of the notes in it or in what order they come in that particular key. If anything he's trying to show the drummer the time signature he wants to do it in ...which would make sense I guess because I don't believe the Waylon Jennings version is quite that fast and being that it's the original it was probably what they were familiar with.
@mrsweettater7 жыл бұрын
So how long have you been playing? All the bands I've played in indicate the chords as 1, 4 and 5 or whatever chord they're doing. It's like musical short hand. Maybe we're just all wrong.
@brianbranham19777 жыл бұрын
mrsweettater I'm not particularly advanced in theory but I know enough to get by. That's kind of theory 101 though so its more than likely the first thing you're going to learn...or at least it should be. If you know the fretboard and know the notes that make up each chord ...then you already know most of what you need to know about keys. It's why keys are so useful to understand."..you won't need to even bother communicating the names of the individual notes or the order in which they fall. Super useful and time conserving. Honestly though I don't think he was doing anything...it appears he's just dancing with his hands so to speak if that makes any sense lol.
