When you look at the world today, in 2020, then see this, it makes you relent to times past. This music is such a testimony to great melodies of the musically gifted, who crafted things that would be perennial, and never fade away: more than that, to create sounds that would lift up, declare freedom for captive souls, and provide an anchor for everything that is good in life, to the glory of God. Thank you so much for posting.

I know exactly what you mean! My dad put in a theatre pipe organ in my basement and I never really played it but started this year! I’m a 15 year old girl and I bring my friends over just to listen and enjoy the music. When I’m playing it feels so magical.

What a beautiful instrument, no creation, and super marvelous arrangement, orchestration to this song. A great organist has every instrument at his hands and this was done with musicality too.

A magnificent rendition of the free world, where musical compositions, such as this, are an encouragement to the beholder. Great gifts through the medium of the almighty are poured down to everybody who can listen and believe.

The most amazing organ I've yet seen. Fantastic music too - really shows off what the organ can do. Nice to see the organ coming up from the ground - not many videos show this nowadays.

I used to roller skate with my mother as a youngster and continued with my three kids through their early years at various rinks in the Chicago area. Retired and living in Florida now whenever I travel to the Phoenix I always stop in for a pizza and listen to that beautiful Wurlitzer, an amazing instrument played by some very talented organists.

I'll be 58 on the 31st of this month August 2020. That's what I had always dreamed of doing!! I stopped taking lessons and playing mostly at 16? I still can play the Toccata and Fugue in D minor by JS Bach. I wasted my whole life man!! Ended working as an electrician which I hated!

The thing I love the most about Liberace when he was playing his that he would draw the audience in by looking at them constantly, smiling at them as he's playing, and telling the audience great stories during his performances! I wish Lew would do that!

At one time at a Party on the Pipes held here in mid west, we had pizza and the organ wold play right along. We need this type of music to return to pizza parlors. Organ Stop Pizza runs like a pizza parlor should. But I wonder how often does the organ play. And I am not sure if the playing for a pizza parlor is a volunteer job or a paying job.

every day from 17:00 to 22:00 if I remember right. And I think the organists touch a little part of the cash the restaurant make every day, like 10 or 15%

Do all of the ranks on these theater organs have that vibrato/tremolo? I’m partial to classical music, particularly Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and several others. I wonder what Bach’s Toccata and Fugue would sound like on one of these...
@john37754 жыл бұрын
well have a listen to Lew Evans playing Widors toccata on WurliTzer kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7lla7F0lq3cZZs.html I THINK it was possible to switch the vibrato/tremolo in or out as wanted. It is wonderful spine tingling stuff. Btw I can't play the organ at all- just like listening to theatre organs.

All ranks have a tremulant with the possible exception of the English Post Horn. It was the influence of Jessie Crawford that led to the extremely deep tremulant on the tibia clausa rank. In the as built and winded state, the tremulant often extended into the base offset chests. We no longer do it way, winding the base pipes off of tremulant.

@@ammediavideo338 The WurliTzer from the Chinese was purchased by Harvey Heck if Tarzana Calif. a friend of mine. He enlarged it to about 28 ranks with a 4 manule console from the Ambassador theatre, St Louis which was covered in silver leaf. installed in his home. He sold it to Bill Brown who installed it at the first Organ Stop Pizza in Phoenix. I do not know if any of this instrument was a part of Harvey's instrument.

Perhaps one of the mightiest theater organs, but not pipe organs generally. A pity the performance standards for theater organists isn’t a little higher. Such a performance without sloppy flourishes and fakery could be quite magical.

I was just thinking it seems a waste to have that in a pizza parlor. It should be somewhere with more prestige. But, I guess people aren't willing to pay to see them anymore. I would.

Wondering how popular on a daily basis is this pizza place compared to the past? Where I live concerts on a huge, well maintained Wurlitzer only draw 100 for a performance by a world class performer in an auditorium that seats 3500 and used to draw 900 I think. Almost all are in their 60s and above. What will happen to these instruments when these people are all gone? Supporting a few up and coming teenage performers each year will not change anything if there is no audience. I don’t see anything being done to change this, i.e. get new audience interested. Not saying that will be easy anytime soon and it seems the entrenched leaders have no incentive. It’s almost too bad they have so much cash in the bank they don’t need to sell tickets. Frankly, I am not sure most of the mostly rich, white, men involved in this really care that much about the future of the mighty Wurlitzers to forgo their self interests as they need to for the good of the future of this instrument. I have seen a lot of selfish behavior by the mukey muks going all the way up to a former president of ATOS and some of the top performers but what do I know? Some don’t deserve to have non-profit status the way they are being managed. I am not an insider, just one of the types of new audience members they will have to attract or wither. I don’t think the insiders have the perspective or incentive needed to change the dwindling audience. Will not take too much pleasure in being right on this in 5-10 years. Carry on.
@MrKmoconne5 жыл бұрын
Maybe they can install a rank of pipes that rap about ho's and gangstas to draw in the new audience you speak of? I fear the world is too angry for this kind of music anymore..
@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath5 жыл бұрын
John Doe Sarcasm won’t get you any audience either, but hey when you are dead what will you care what happens to these instruments, right? You don’t have to be into rap to be selfish.

@@GOLDVIOLINbowofdeath sadly, I just don't have an answer. I hope that the next generation will suddenly find there is something charming and worthwile about these old instruments and old songs and will value them like those people in their 60s who I must remind you are all old hippies from the 60's and 70's.
