Loved this video! I really liked the fact that you showed the underside of the winch. As I am making a similar device for myself.

Good info thank's, I'm in Nova Scotia wanting a similar setup for forestry. If you get the mod's done an update video would be great especially with what I think you meant about the triple stack sprockets directly mounted without a chain, I think that's what you meant. Thanks again for taking the time to upload the info.

the fast moving gear will turn like 10 000rpm, even if the first gearing is 10, the second one will turn 1000 rpm. it will most likely throw out the grease you sprayed on it, and continue unlubricated. It needs that oil to constantly deliver fresh lubricant. Nice video tough

Nico Vermeir this is the fix that was told to me by Lewis Winch. Yes I will still need to refill it as times goes on but it’s not leaking out like the oil was.

That's no way to stop an oil leak. on the older Lewis wenches take out the filler plug insert a bushing with a cirque fitting remove the vent plug put in a pound of grease with your grease gun until the grease comes out behind the sprocket or through the vent plug install the vent plug and your good to go every so often at a little grease . Just like you would do for your ball joints on your truck
