Lewis actually did crowdsurfing later at the main stage

I hadn’t really considered Lewis’s situation until I saw how emotional he was at the end of the race. He took a podium on his debut, first win 6 races later and then it was a record breaking run of victory’s and championships leading up to Abu Dhabi 2021 where his win and championship were snatched away from him in the dying moments. 943 days of struggling, he must have felt he was cursed.

Lewis is literal definition of bigger than the sport. We never get any news on F1 but all our celebrities were all of a sudden congratulating Lewis. He's win is estimated to be worth 1.1B£. that's unheard of in F1

Hey Kym. I was there for the 1st time after falling in love with the sport for decades ( the yr before Senna passed away would you believe!). The number of helicopters was ridiculous. The deluge of rain and wind Saturday night was so scary but, Lewis winning made it all worth it.

I don't understand why Lando wants everyone to feel sorry for him. Leading the race doesn't automatically mean you are entitled to win. Its not over until the 🏁.

Hey Kym, how did cameramen decide whether to film the winning moment or Parc ferme? Obviously staying by the start/finish for the end of the race means sacrificing a spot in Parc ferme, but catching the moment Lewis took his first win in over 2 years had to be an unparalleled shot

Happy, emotional, and respect for LH44, a fan. He'll be more competitive for the remaining of the season, but winning races will not be easy. Max is still the one to beat. he is measured and RB is still the fastest car. Lando is going to be up there in the mix, however, his ambition may get the better of him. The remaining 2024 F1 season is going to be exciting.

This was such an emotional Win for everyone in Formula One!

Hey, Kym, re: the helicopters, you mention flights every few minutes? Not even close to how it used to be. Before the opening of a new bypass to improve traffic (in 2002 I think), Silverstone used to become the busiest heliport in the world on a Grand Prix weekend. I went in the mid-90s and all the helicopters in the sky looked like a swarm of flies with multiple takeoffs and landings happening simultaneously. Bit of googling and apparently in 1998 they were handling 4000 aircraft "movements" (takeoff or landings) in a day. For perspective on how mindblowing that is, the busiest regular heliport in the world is Aberdeen where they can have "more than 150 movements" in a day. All because the traffic situation was absurd then. I remember staying at a Travelodge by the motorway exit, maybe 15 miles from Silverstone, got up at 6am and the traffic to the circuit had already backed up onto the roundabout there. Hours of queuing. Completely missed morning practice but we could hear it. So you can bet that anyone at all who could fly to the track did so to avoid this. Also, does anyone know if they still use the small runway in the middle of the track now? There used to be a line of private jets etc. parked up there, and I even remember a turboprop taking off and flying over Club corner during a Touring Car support race. I'm just looking at the track on google maps and it seems they've converted that runway into a mini-track called Stowe Circuit.

Great race! I was thrilled to see Lewis win. He really celebrated with the fans, and Roscoe 😃. How nice that his whole family was there too. It was a sad race for George though, after a wonderful start. He managed to handle his disappointment like a professional. But Lando being so openly petulant about not being first is not a good look. It was very nice to see him being supported by Max, who would have done the same until very recently ago. Martin Brundles grid walk had a couple of amusing moments. He was a bit nonplussed by the pr girl who grabbed him for a newly minted pollie that I don’t think Brundle knew. Then he tried to catch Brian May who refused saying he knew nothing about F1. It was nice to see Rowan Atkinson, who gave him a few minutes and didn’t cringe one bit when asked what Mr Bean would make of it. Thanks Kim ❤

Kym you need to come shoot the Baja 1000 in November, I have won the 1000 9 times since 1975. There is so much more action in a Baja race than F-1 could dream of.
