Hey Kym. I really enjoyd this video and i have a quenstion. so im 16 years old and i am from the netherlands and photography is one of my hobbys. right now i use the one from my dad because i dont have my own one but i really enjoy taking photos. my brother raced in a f4 car at the nurburgring and i took photos and also with some NLS races i take photos for myself. never posted them really. but i would love to have a career in this. do you think that if i push hard enough i could get there as someone this young? greetings from the netherlands!

Ignoring specific numbers, how much of the lifestyle (the business class flights, etc) is paid for by being a photographer, vs still owning a successful business?
@badgastein210 сағат бұрын
Reading the back of this Monaco GP ticket. States taking any F1 l video banned and no photography except for private use - so no wonder accredited photographers are necessary.

One thing I have noticed is that the cameras bodies often have stickers on the prism box or front. Did I read somewhere that they are effectively "scrutineered" or signed in by the FIA?
@KymIllman10 сағат бұрын
The sticker just shows marshals that you’re okay to photograph/video.

Just an amazing episode Kym! Great look inside your profession. To be honest, one of your best episodes, I learned quite a bit. As far as Netflix’s “Drive To Survive,” I have only watched a few episodes. I stopped streaming Netflix two years ago due to the fact their service kept rising. These days, I stream YouTubr more than anything.🏁

Great video. I’d have loved to do something like this. I took up photography as a retirement hobby. And of course your videos popped up in my feed as I subscribed to various photography channels. I’ve been an F1 fan since Alan Jones’ popularity soared as he clinched the ‘80 title and Australian TV started covering F1 and to a lesser extent, Motorsport in general. This then culminated with SBS covering Wayne Gardner’s attempts to win the 500cc Motorcycle GP title (which he did in ’87). It was a plan to try to attend as many F1 and MotoGP races as possible in one year, but cost and health issues put paid to it. So I live vicariously through your content and that of one or two others. Keep it up. It’s fantastic what you do and from an Aussie’s perspective. Too many so-called “F1” channels rely on other people’s content and stock footage and the annoying AI commentary. At least what you report on is actual news, not mostly wild speculation that others rely on for their click bait channels. Thanks.

Fascinating information Kym! I already know I definitely don’t want to be an F1 photographer or be employed in the sport, even though I love it so much. I’m way too much of a homebody to want to be gone for weeks and months at a time. I attend COTA each year and that’s good enough for me. I wouldn’t mind going to back to back races or a flyaway race sometime but living on the road? Nah, not for me.
