I love the insight. I create unboxing videos that doesn't necessarily lend to this type of lighting and set-up, but I find myself trying to incorporate some of the things I learn on this channel anyway. Looking forward to seeing more of your content, Lewis. This is really fantastic.

The filter-down, or ripple-effect of one DP through the internet is fantastic. You read from the DP of Knives out, then dispersed it through this project and it's breakdown. Now I've got another technique to apply for my own shoots. Amazing. Thank you.

I feel like you're really opening up to the KZfaq format and letting your personality and style shine through the edit. I'm a big fan!! Also *taking a lot of notes* -- I'd love to see what lighting fixtures you think are essential to have in a versatile professional kit vs. what's worth only renting.

I'm a gaffer, I think having a nice panel type source for soft light on faces is a great start, next moving on to a hard source like a fresnel, great for a hair light or to light the background. I like the aputure 60x, dedo lights are nice for that, if you want a cheap option a mole or arri 300w. Next fixture for me is a tube led light, the length gives you decently soft shadows / wrap around a face given its size which makes them easy to conceal or you can make them stand out as a practical. Finally I'd buy a small light like an aperture mc or a lume cube, a tiny light that can act as a eye light, stick it inside a practical, something quick to place under a cabinet or inside a car.

as someone just breaking into the film industry who is is already working on projects with small - medium crews, i just want to tell you how awesome it is for you to share bts production insights and solutions. it is a huge help for myself and i would think especially people outside the business entirely to have this knowledge from a business that can often seem very "closed" and secretive when it comes to on set production (as well as pre production), especially if you lack the right network. thank you!

I'm no DP/cinematographer, and i don't plan on becoming one, i'm just looking to make some money with videography, but the way you and other pros think about the craft is really helpful to me. if you could keep finding ways to organically insert your professional philosophy about how you approach your projects, I would be super grateful because it helps me to think about how to serve the client the right way. EXAMPLE, WHEN YOU SAID THIS IT WAS SO HELPFUL: "That's your job as a DP, to make it look like it's meant to look. And not just be a backlighting robot all the time, and trying to make things look as pretty as you can make them look. Doing what's needed for the job is necessary sometimes."
