Here is a video we thought you'd enjoy that Chad made when he was living way off the grid in the middle of the wilderness in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
He put an Old Man Emu Lift Kit on his 07 Lexus GX 470 so he could get some more ground clearance for the extreme winters we have up here. Especially where he lived!

Well done! I have a good friend in the U.P. who has flipped cars for years, and he finds a solid market for lower budget vehicles. He buys easy mechanical fixes, works it for two weeks and resells. If a person has the tools and ability self employment might just be an option. Regardless if vintage, winter beater, or ford escort rebuild I would definitely watch some flip it videos. You have the skills, Chad!

255/80-17 would fit way better and far less cutting and be better in snow.

Nice, I have mines on 35x 12.5 on 18x 9 wheels so I had to go little higher still cutting needed and still have my factory running board on,but it works.

Easier way to get that top ball joint out is loosen the nut 3/4 way off and give that flat spot on the spindle a good hit. The weight of all your front end will pull it down.

You are missing the rear coil spring isolator on the top of the rear spring. That insulator locates the spring and has a bump stop built in. May want to put those in to avoid the rear tires from digging in to the wheel well on up-travel.

The lift has been installed for two years now and I’ve been on some crazy off road adventures and it’s never had an issue. The fronts still rub a bit when full steer in a bump

Looking to do this same kit on my 06 GX470. With the lift and the replacement upper control arms did you have to re-align the truck? If so how far off was the alignment after your install?

Firm. We are a family of six and haul stuff in and out of the woods quite a bit. And to be honest I thought the firm would be to stiff and rough but it seems a bit soft and rides nice. I’m guessing that soft may be too soft.

The type of wheeling I do, full compression, vehicle with lots of momentum and turning would rub an over the place, probably decorate the desert with bits of Toyota all over. Even 33's require a bmc more often than not, with uca's and at least 0 offset wheels. In fact 2 weeks ago I saw a gx roll down a huge dune as he, well, OK it had nothing to do with his toe size, haha.

Drives great! The only thing I have noticed is when in really deep wet snow if I’m not in low gear the transmission will get hot. Now that’s only if I’m damn near stuck trying to get back to my property through stupid deep snow for miles!

@@G.A.N.G101how does it ride with the heavy springs? I’m trying to decide whether to go with ome or Dobinsons on an 05 4runner I’ll be hauling around a bike carrier with a 300lb bike on. Been leaning toward Dobinsons just because you can get variable springs so seems like it might ride a bit better when unloaded.

You my friend are so right! Even if I did everything how you would have you would’ve definitely picked something else just to satisfy your needs.. fyi at this time I lived out in the middle of nowhere and just need to get this done as I needed to get home to my family as this was after work and getting late. I had one goal and that was to get the lift installed and done and get back on the road. There are so many things I “should’ve” done, but guess what? I got it done how I did and I’m still driving er every day! The dirt and rust didn’t hurt a damn thing! Oh and thanks for watching man! Have a great New Year!

@@G.A.N.G101 Nope. Just basic cleaning and rust proofing as you go. Sorry you were too busy making a video to do things long term and correct. GXs are known to have rust issues. Especially with road salt. But you know best so keep on trucking man and you have a great "rust free" year...or two before something down there collapses. Then you will remember our little chat. LOL!
