2015 Lexus RC 350 RWD F Sport Oil Change Video
(NOTE: AWD Models Have Different Oil Pan and Drain Bolt Location)
Also the small o-ring is for the oil filter housing drain bolt if applicable (My car does not use this but I have included a link below for reference)
See your owners manual to confirm capacities and oil filter part numbers.

Thank you! This video is very helpful. You have a new subscriber. So far I’ve learnt how to change the engine air filter and oil from you. For the oil change, I don’t have a lift so if I can’t find one, I’ll just have to go to the dealer or a shop where I can make sure they actually change it. Or can I crawl under with it jacked up?

Obviously be super careful, but if you look in the owners manual, you’ll find where you can get a jack under it. Make sure you use jack stands and have a big enough oil catch to hold the 7 quarts of oil! I’ve done two oil changes this way and it wasn’t too bad. Solid video! Just got my RC 350 F Sport in Black at a little over 38k miles. Any other advice or guides for taking care of these beauties for a newbie like me? I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty to keep it clean and mechanically functional while saving money from stealerships.

Lol stealerships. Congrats!! 🎉 honestly I haven’t had to do anything other than oil changes and air filter changes thus far so just put good gas in it and check the inside of the tires (that’s where they seem to wear out first)

I would imagine it being very similar but check the owners manual to make sure to get the fluid capacities right, and the right filter! Other than that the process should be identical. Let me know the differences if you end up noticing any!! Thanks!

Dude awesome stuff! Love that you didn’t waste any time by speeding things up...also FINALLLY figured out where that tiny o-ring goes!! I would just never use it in the past on all the other Lexuses I’ve changed oil on. I’ve been thinking about putting a cat back exhaust on....maybe do one of those? :D And then maybe even make a air filter and cabin filter change one (not for me, but for others it might help)

Michael Mc so after watching this vid I went in to change my oil....turns out, there’s a different shaped pan for the awd model and the rwd model, took me a quick google look up to be certain that it was the oil pan. Maybe throw in a note there to help others out?

Hey guys that's NOT where the small oring goes! It's for under the silver cap, which can. Be removed and a plastic drain put in before unscrewing filter housing. I never did that, but that's where it goes. DON'T put inside the housing!!

@@steverasmussen1905 I guess the dealership I bought the car from installed it there because this was the first oil change I've personally done on the vehicle. I called Lexus to see if this would hurt anything so I'm waiting to hear back from them. I don't believe it would have much effect other than pinching the filter a bit being the o-ring is taking up 3/32" or so of its space. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Either way, I'll let y'all know what Lexus says about this and thank you for bringing this to our attention!!

Do all RC 350 F SPORT models come with the medal filter housing? Ordering parts and jack, so I haven't checked mine.

It's for a special kind on oil filter housing cap that has a drain plug in it apparently 🤷‍♂️

I have the 2017 Lexus RC 350 F Sport also and love it! How often should I change my oil according to the manufacturer, the dealer says every 5000 miles.

They are correct! The maintenance engine light comes on every 5,000 to remind you to change it and I haven't seen any signs of it braking down. I've squeezed 6,000 miles out of one oil change and it still looked like it had some life in it.

My oil filter housing is plastic on my 2018 RC350 but yours looks metal. Did you replace yours with a metal one?

No that's how mine came unless the previous owner swapped it 🤷‍♂️ I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts giving you trouble later on

Is it recommended to flush your transmission fluids at 60k miles? Took my RC 350 AWD to my local dealership and they wont do it.

Apparently you only need to if "your system contains excessive dirt or debris, If the fluid is exceedingly dark or contains other sediments". So if they checked the fluid and everything looked ok this could be why they won't do it. I would call the service manager or another dealership if determined on getting it done 👍either way good luck!!

You definitely do not have to, for starters its a strainer, not a filter. The way the strainer works does not require to change them. Which means that drain and fill with fluid is more than enough. Now, I do recommend fully synthetic ATF; just make sure you use ATF compatible with WS.

Mine was in my glove box; it has a bunch of different books all in a leather case. You might check the trunk for it since it's rather large

You did say, "Don't over tighten." Good advice. Torque spec for oil filter cap is 25 N•m (18 ft.lbs.)

That's a spout for a special oil filter cap that has a drain plug in it. I'm assuming you have the normal canister cap so you probably won't have a use for it 👍

It's a tool needed to get the oil filter housing cap off. It attaches to a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet just like a regular socket

@@vigilantejude3500 No problem! I would check with an auto parts store (that's were I got mine) being they are pretty standard in size. You could order one online but they might call it a "wrench" even though it more resembles a oil filter "socket" in my opinion 🤷‍♂️

I really hate not having a lift for my car. Oil changes are so frigging simple. The fact that I have to pay somebody to do it bothers me

Yeah the lift makes everything much easier! They make those quickjacks that are pretty handy and easily stored when you're not using them 👌

So Google told me I need 5W-30, Auto Zone said i need 5W-20 and you say 0W-20. 😅 Any help?

Check under your hood it has a sticker that says 0W-20! Reference the owners manual also; I was reading it the other day and I believe it states after passing 120-140,000 miles to up the weight so check that out under the maintenance intervals!!

0W- 20 Is Little Too Thin for A High Perf.3.5 V-6,in My Opinion & That Wgt. Is Hard to Find in Pennzoil Ultra Syn.Just Got My 2017 RC350 & Oil Is Soo Thin @ Oil Chge,Doesn' t Even Show on Dip Stick.Going to Ask Serv.Mgr.@ Lexus if 5w- 20 is O.K.for Summer.

I have a 2016 RC 200t the owners manual says 0W-20 but Auto Zone says 5W-20 who do I trust? Would it be the same procedure?

@@likablemichael: FRAM For Synthetic is Almost As Good As Mobil 1 or Wix XP ,That STP Filter Was Made in China ,No TKS.on Any Car Part Made in CHINA.65-70 % Of O'Reilly's House Parts Are Made in China,& Are Crap.

@@edcain3676 Thanks for the input!! I really thing industrial grade manufacturing has come a long way and if using full synthetic oil on top of changing the filter every interval; I think the differences in filters is splitting hairs at that point. I couldn't find any solid evidence where each company manufactures their oil filters they sell in America but It does appear Fram has a few facilities in the US so that's good to know!
