LG doesn't have an average 1 ms GTG, it's only valid in a non working mode for several instances. Marketing. An average GTG 1 ms doesn't exist in any display. Why do you ban my comments, by the way ???

your original review of the Asus Monitor helped me make my deciding factor. Been using it for about a week now. At first I did experience the green/purple artifacting, it wasn't as bad as others. Not all my games have this issue. Mainly warzone in dark stairways. i was able to eliminate the issue with the following settings on FPS mode: Brightness - 60 Contrast - 86 Saturation - 40 OD - 20 Shadow boost - Level 2 Gsync - on This is with a RTX 3070. Hope this helps others.

Came across your channel earlier today in regards to something else and then saw the review for these two monitors, one of which I have and another that is very similar. My predicament right now is between the 32GP83B-B.AUS and the VG32VQ1B. I really like the curve, but have noticed tearing/ghosting with some games like Insurgency and sometimes Tarkov. I'm kinda stuck between the two since right now they're similarly priced, LG is just a very small bit more.

According to "displayspecifications", Asus is 8 bit depth, so it might use FRC to actually have the same 1.07 billion colors. I Noticed Asus VG34VQL1B in Taiwan, But no one mentioned LG 34GP83A-B, and they both haven't launched in Taiwan yet. I think I will buy LG when it is on sale. You are doing good, Keep it up.

You are mistaking color accuracy for color gamut. The Asus hasn't got as wide a color gamut as the LG, but that doesn't tell you anything about color accuracy. This would have to be tested with a colorimeter. Though color shift is definitely going to be better with LG's IPS. As for the panel being 10-bit or 8-bit, it looks like the VA that Asus uses is probably 8-bit native with dithering done on the GPU side of things. So far I haven't seen any VA panels that have 8-bit+FCR for 10 bit on the monitor side. The LG is also using dithering, though it does this within the monitor itself. Your GPU should show either one as being 10-bit up to 144Hz though. That's a limitation of DP 1.4. If you don't have display stream compression (DSC), which only newer graphics cards have, you can't implement 10-bit over DP 1.4 above 144Hz. It adds cost to the monitor, so few models currently available have this feature. At least it comes with two DP 1.4 ports, but an HDMI 2.1 would be nice. No one is including those on monitors even in 2021. I'm betting it has to do with the HDMI consortium and their licensing. I'd actually like to try this monitor out myself, but it's sold out on Amazon. Is the ghosting bad with light text on a dark background? Most of what I do is in dark mode across various programs and apps, so that would make a difference. I'm also not a fan of the 1500R curve. I've tried the LG 34GP83A, and it has a 1900R curve, which is much more tolerable. Working in graphic design, it is a consideration. The LG was a good monitor with a few bugs. The DP port was defective on mine and kept causing my PC issues. I tried a second DP cable to no avail, and then went to HDMI. It was fine over HDMI, but it can only operate at 85Hz over that port. It's something LG did to undermine that model and get people to opt for the more expensive, but otherwise identical, model 34GN850. They just cut a few corners like the HDMI limitation and not including an HDMI cable or the USB hub cable. I liked the monitor, but the defect was causing me to pull my hair out, and between Amazon and LG, it took me over a week to get a return authorized. By that point I just wanted my money back. I don't know how well it compares to the Asus. I'm sure pixel response is faster, ghosting may be nonexistent, and it has a subtler curve. All for $300 more, before tax. That's a high premium, a 60% higher cost for perhaps 20% better performance? I'm giving them a wide margin here. Colors are also too vibrant and need adjusted to sRGB on the LG if you want to do any professional work. No content exists that's made for DCI-P3 color space, other than HDR, and that's still a limited use case with PC's. It's a nice to have, and I'm betting with the contrast and superior maximum brightness, the Asus does better. Lacking a wider color gamut might hurt it with HDR content just the same. Though otherwise the less extreme color gamut might actually be a good thing. I found leaving the LG set to its default gamut was far too intense and oversaturated normal content. With AMD's drivers, you can limit the color data being sent to it to sRGB, emulating it with fewer restrictions than using the OSD setting on the monitor. It's an easy toggle in the driver settings, which means you can go back and forth whenever you want.

What's going to make it or break it is the ghosting. You won't notice the Black levels that much when gaming. In fact, I've had to turn HDR off because I can't see due to too much black. Just been using IPS for a very long time and used to it. Never used VA before.

Did you use a colorimeter to calibrate both displays or are the monitors at their default settings? It's not fair to compare VA to IPS color accuracy unless they are both calibrated. And I ask this because I am well aware of how important calibration is for any monitor.

Buy what you can afford, but the LG ticks more boxes for most, excluding price. LG can be found for 550-700, and I personally took the jump, because the next logical step up in performance would be an Alienware OLED for essentially double the price. The ASUS Panel can and should be considered "slow", mainly due to the fact that its a fairly plain VA panel. Potential buyers should look into the M34WQ instead(also IPS, like the LG) if they are concerned about ghosting. If contrast is important to you and you are not sensitive to ghosting, then go VA. AMD users on the LG should try 10 Bit color HDR Mode with the AMD Software "Vivid gaming" option. It really improves the contrast and visibility of this LG Panel way beyond what I was able to achieve via the presets. Contrast, brightness, and saturation can also be tuned to take a step beyond. I actually have the LG 34GN850-B, which has a slightly better HDR mode, but the 83 is extremely comparable and most would not notice the difference. There are those with 83s claiming its the exact same panel, bit that's only because they spent less money and want to believe that. The difference is fairly minor, though. ASUS is slow with good contrast, while the LG is actually FAST and can be tuned to have "good" contrast. The ASUS is not a "steal". If anything, it is "fairly priced", because if you hate ghosting, it will not make you happy. Don't make a mistake.

No VA panel with ghosting will ever get into my desk. I went for the LG ultrawide because it was on sale at 650$, and it is still at that price. Those 150$ extra dollars are well paid for the colors, white handling, and fake HDR that is acceptable on the LG, the input lag and the no ghosting or smearing is the FINAL DECISION for anyone who wants to get an ultrawide these days at a below 1000$ price (Alienware OLED price is still absurd). If you want to spend less cash on an ultrawide, go directly to the Gigabyte 34" IPS panel, not the VA, it is below 450$ and claps the Asus VA ultrawide any given Sunday.

I now have the lg and can say that it can't be beat for the equivalent of €600. the picture, the sharpness and the speed is absolutely outstanding. there is no other monitor with the asus either. the lg is just a dream only when you have it do you know how good it is. since i have already tested 5 different ultrawide va panels i can only recommend the lg. ips does everything right against va. The contrast of the lg is basically high enough and is not as bad as if it were too little at 1000 to 1. I play Everest and black is black. the colors are stunning and paired with one of the fastest and most responsive panels this is incredibly awesome. I throw every va panel out the window. va is slow, bad colors, bad viewing angles, black smearing, colors are washed out. so the lg is just awesome and everyone who likes the va panel has a clue!

I have the lg, probably gona return it for the asus, the contrast is just to bad, I think this LG has one of the worst contrast on the market, I have it next to a 5 year old iiyama prolite 25 inch monitor that cost 200 dollars back then. If you don't watch content in a darker room the lg might work

@@Victor-ze3sd I'm sitting here looking at it. I currently have a 27 inch IPS I'm using as a separate display (ASUS pg279q), and I've had several VA/TN panels. This is the best monitor I've ever owned.

@@tmorelli1982 I returned it because : the contrast was worse than a 200 dollar IPS monitor, the grey wasnt' uniform on it, light was bleeding from every edge (you couldn't really see it in daylight but at night there was just to much), there was an IPS glow, I had 3 dead pixels (one of each color were stuck, not in the middle but still bothersome when you pay attention). Their antireflective film is weird compared to otherbrands, such as iiyama as it's glossy from an angle, it's not as effective as mate antireflective but there's probably a reason for them to choose glossy. So in the end you get 21/9, 144Hz, curved and more brightness but the display quality itself doesn't seem better than a 200 dollar monitor so I couldn't keep it. Also yours probably has dead pixels as this monitor has a bad quality check and is known for that, you really need to pay attention because the pixels are very very small.

To make it clear and simple, as it can be: This video explains, that the LG is a very good monitor and if you do not care about glowing blacks, go for IPS anyway. If you care about that, Asus has made a fantastic job to give you a VA panel, minimising the inherent weaknesses of the technology. If not told, a standard user would not even notice. The question is simple: do you want to go true black or not? ;)

This LG would be amazing if not the F-HD resolution vs QHD. At 34' it is a huge and noticeable difference.

the lg has bad contrast, I mean really bad, same goes for light bleed, I have it next to a 5 year old 25 inch iiyama (bought it for 200 dollars then) monitor and its not comparable, I prefer by far the image on the iiyama (if you move left to right with the lg edges become darker then others, don't have that on my other display), even the anti-reflective is better, probably gona return the lg for the asus, though the lg is perfect in gaming and maybe browsing but not to watch content.
