Quick question: Are you watching at night with lamps on? Or a bright room? I'm looking to replace a plasma that is 12 years old.
@thewitchdoctorofficial
@thewitchdoctorofficial 2 жыл бұрын
@@garyjames365 Both, the brightness is more than enough to cope with bright rooms. Although the best is seen in a darker environment. The Oled technology is amazing, we are blown away with how good the set is. We had a Panasonic plasma and LED, Oled out performs both. The C1 is fantastic, some amazing deals on at the moment too.

for those who are short on time the TLDR version: turn everything OFF in picture settings apart from Cinema Screen. But I have to agree with the creator of this video, i ended with the same settings in the first 2 hours after my new OLED arrived (and that was before i saw this video). Thanks AVForums for confirmation bias :)

Just purchased the 77" C1, first OLED tv I will own, currently have a Vizio M series tv from circa 2014 when led 1080P was the big fuzz, has a whopping 36 active led zones you know?, it's been our family tv through two homes, several military deployments and the entirety of my youngest child lifespan but is now starting to push daisies, guess I got my moneys worth and I finally upgraded to something hopefully more "future proof", can't wait to plug this in and be amazed with the difference for years to come.

I just got my OLED 48C1 TV set and I have a kind of basic question, you menition the brightness calibration of 25 for dark rooms and higher for lighter rooms, it turns out my room can be very light during day ours and of course, dark at evening, does this mean I'll have to go and adjust this setting every day according to the ours of the day? Should I adjust the settings of isf expert mode to chose between dark and light room? Thank you very much. Filipe

Hello. Thank you so much for this video. It has been very helpful and easy to follow. The explanation of the settings has also proven very educational. I do have a bit of an issue and hope that you or others here can provide some guidance. While I have successfully completed the SDR and HDR recommendations, I cannot get the Dolby Vision option to show under PICTURE SETTINGS on my new C1 (purchased April 2022) when playing Dolby Vision content. It is always Film Maker mode with only the non- Dolby Vision HDR options available. I am playing Dolby Vision content via Roku 4K Ultra with HBO Max (Batman -- Gotham is Calling). I've checked to ensure HD Deep Color is enabled; confirmed my HDMI cable is suitable (48Gbps / 8K); confirmed that ROKU settings are correct for the attached display; enabled/disabled Film Maker auto-detect. I even tried a FireTV Stick 4K Max - all to no avail. I'm pretty sure it is something I've overlooked in settings, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is. Any help would be most appreciated!! Thanks, and keep up the great work!

@@Spook2312 -. Thank you. I got it sorted out. Turns out that the Roku Ultra I have is an earlier model that actually does not support Dolby Vision. The newer models do and my Google searches were returning specs from the newer model. Gotta love when a mfg introduces a new device but keeps the same name. Anyhow, the FireTV and new Blu-ray player both support Dolby Vision and allow for playback and access to settings when playing DV content.

Very illustrative video, thank you for that. I found with 83" screen some of the auto/dynamic related setting will settle the picture artifacts / pecularities, which is not normally visible on smaller screens like 65" displays I have as a second display. So the calibration also is dependant of screen size also. With too overexposed view your eyes will burn with 83 incher, but with 50 inch display is just an little too far set value and that's it.

Is there a PDF or a page where these settings are printed out? I've tried to take notes while watching the video but I think I might be missing something. I just bought an LG OLEDC155PUB and I'd love to fine tune it to relieve the "black crush" in some content. I'd also like to get rid of the ridiculous Home screen ads and at least be able to customize it so my inputs come up at the top and the streaming stations (apps?) are secondary. Other than that it's looking almost as good as my 2008 Panasonic Plasma which I just replaced --- a lot sharper, of course.

@@besticandogolf5901 so you do make picture adjustments to each type of format such as SDR, HDR and when you are watching sports? So if I am watch Netflix for example and switch to watching sport the tv will the tv switch the picture mode automatically? Btw, I watch everything from my Apple TV 4K. Sorry if the question is confusing. I’m very new to advance tvs like this. Been watching lots of videos where people show you how to make adjustments to all different types of format but didn’t know if once I make the adjustments and save it if I need to switch to to a different picture mode when I watch various content, which would be very annoying.

@@1baomao once you make adjustments for one format, and save those settings across all inputs, the tv will recognize source content and choose the appropriate settings.

Question: what about gaming? I’ve seen a couple other sources say thet the default colour of 55 is most accurate only in game mode.

Hmm my c1 is calibrated so cant comply on that, the thing is gaming mode has the least processing in terms of image restoration. So that why it might be the most accurate?

I've also seen people recommending 55, but I recently switched to 50 and I am convinced it looks perfect. 55 always seemed to be over saturated to me.

When you select Apply to all inputs, is that any hdmi/tv/usb inputted into tv, when you just chouse the mode FilmMaker Mode ?, or is it also for all the other modes, like Standard/Vivid/Eco/Game/isf/ etc etc ?
@Spook2312

Only for that mode on all inputs. So you have to set the settings three times: sdr, hdr and Dolby Vision (Netflix has Dolby Vision content)

I bought my parents the 48inch version and couldn't get my TV to showcase Filmmaker mode. I had to go into the video settings of their Chromecast and turn on a feature that then enabled me to be able to have full control from the TV's point of view. I am at my friends who has the 55inch version, and he has apple tv 4k... and I am now running into the same issues. Filmmaker mode is not a picture option and I have been trying to change the settings inside apple tv but I am not having any luck. Any suggestions?

Thank you. I had an LG CX that got burn in and then I bought a QLED but just missed oled too much, picked up an LG C1 as I watch alot of 4k movies especially on disk as I'm bit of a collector and this video really helped me out as I don't have any meters or the time to get in a professional calibrator. It might not be of interest to you or you might have already done a video on it but could you point me in the right direction for proper calibration for a ps5 aswell? I know HDTV has videos up but who lives in a grading suite?

Great channel! So my question is this if I'm watching a 4k bluray encoded in Dolby Vision in a dark room do I watch it in Cinema Home or Cinema mode? I.e do I want the adaptive light of cinema home on or off when watching in a dark room?

cinema is always best for a pure dark room if they are very dim lights and if the room is per say 80% dark i’d go with cinema home. but cinema on dolby gives me the best quality 10/10

Two questions. Can you suggest which settings to use for ps5 use? Also, there’s a video advising to set White Balance to Warm 50, should we not do this then? Thanks in advance!

Filmmaker mode that's used in this video I think is warm 50 but I can't stand it. Too warm for me although that is how we see white in real life. I much prefer warm 25. It's less orange looking.
