Would you go for the 42”? Or is it too big as a monitor or too small as a TV?

Im considering it since my 65” living room x900h doesn’t do VRR with killing the brightness levels. Only concern is using this for work as well since I use a real monitor for work purposes.

I remember the days that a 42inch TV was considered huge, heck I remember when a 32 was considered huge, with that being said it is better suited as a monitor or maybe a small dorm type room.
@SpawnPoiint

Totally agree and remember the same. 32” was THE size to buy, and 40” was considered a ‘big screen’. Now look at us 😂

It always amazes me how quickly you acclimatise to whatever size you have. Having had a 65" for some time now, it no longer feels that 'big' to my eyes (I sit about six feet away). In fact, I now regret not going bigger when I swapped my Sony LCD for the C1; I stayed at the same size, which doesn't feel as much of an upgrade (tbh, I've been somewhat underwhelmed by the OLED but that's another story...).
@Pendragoongp

I bought a 70" in 2011, and yeah, you get used to the size so quickly. I still haven't upgraded because nothing really screams a must upgrade yet. The QD OLED from Samsung is close, but too small for now.

Hi. I am leaning towards lg c2 42" for my use (30% coding, 40% photo-video editing, 20% entertainment, 10% movies). A quick question, I've watched 10s of youtube videos and read 10s of Reddit posts. But couldn't find that by hook or crook (external software, service remote etc) can LG C2 42" do a split screen? For example, Hook up a laptop and pc to different HDMI and display at the same time.

HDRI is 90% great, but won't push you something overly bright like direct sun, direct flashlight. Artificial lights look stunning, metal looks like real metal, daylight sky and windows look convincing, night scenes look superb, fire and explosions, look great. But not those overly bright spots - you won't get it with C2, only with G2-G3 I guess (C2 peak brightness is 800 nits, and G3 is 1400). But I keep C2, because it's 42 inches (and I use it with PC), and it's 2 times cheaper. It gets me 90% of experience I want, just not that umph extra HDR I would dream of in some occasions. It's still pretty bright HDR experience, mind you, if not to look at those nuances. It's night and day compared to IPS or VA, so get it for that 90% of new visual era, it's worth it

Just bought this to replace my 48CX. Actually it seems really small at first :D but I'm pretty confident that the size is perfect for a gaming monitor. I also like that you can see the pixels a lot less than on the CX because this 42C2 can also be moved further back on a desk, and of course it has higher PPI per se.

Amazing hdr yes above 1500nits and low input lag about 11ms= 60hz and 6ms= 120hz BUT horrible inverse ghosting and it’s slow in response time about 3-8ms not good for gaming in my opinion. I am returning it and getting the c2 much better tv for gaming and movies with super low input lags 9= 60hz and in boost mode 2ms! and this is according to my life in gaming video about the c2 oled. Yes get it you won’t regret it. It’s amazing for gaming but have in mind not so great for retro gaming that uses 4:3 ratio because it has high input lag in 4:3 aspect ratio about 20ms. But with modern consoles or pc it’s super great in input lag about 9 ms at 60hz and 6ms at 120hz. 1ms response time with not inverse ghosting.

@@badassfriend9076 Where can I see that input lag? I've tested it with CS GO, Quake, and it's butterly smooth. What's your PC?

These panels are the same as last year's, just smaller form factor. The 55" and ups have the evo engine in them, which is supposed to be brighter. It would be really cool for you to compare the new 2022 OLEDs from LG, Sony and now Samsung.

That's why I think the 48" C1 is worth more, which is the same price.

All c2 including this have the evo engine that's what it's called evo. And i have triple checked before purchasing. The 42 has the wbc panel, 48 and up has wbe but all are evo processor and AI

Small? I don't have room for a bigger TV, as it must be in a corner next to my kitchen door.

Epic video! I'm looking into getting the C1 but now that the C2 is out I wanted to compare them. I think of waiting for Black Friday and purchased the C1 to save some money. Any thoughts comparing them? I only want to use it with my PS5.

Now you just need a bigger desk to slap those Monitor Audio Bronze speakers on it, pair it with a Marantz PM6007 and a proper 8in or 10in sub. Sit back on that Herman Miller with a cold beer and enjoy. I was thinking about buying the 42in or 48in either as a main monitor or supplement but like most people I'm just figuring out if it's too big or how big of a desk do I need to comfortably accommodate everything.

C2 OLED, I already own one of these and it's awesome. The only thing that I don't like is it auto dims when there is little screen activity going on regardless of any settings set. No doubt it's to prevent screen burn in, never the less it's annoying as the brightness drops off a fair bit until it detects some desktop movement, then the brightness ramps back again. Hence it's not so great for doing office type work like emails and word documents, but it is a fine gaming screen / anything with a high amount of motion.

Well, at least here it's not as aggressive as I expected after reading user reviews. It does dim when a big portion of the screen is white, but only in desktop mode. And I think it's great, as it' would be too bright for such a huge panel. You don't want a 800+ nits flash stun in CS, it will hurt. Nothing distracting in games or movies, it feels natural

I think that this C2 OLED is optimal for deep desks and for PS5 / XBSX. If you have a smaller desk and a PC along with your next gen consoles the 27GP950 monitor is just the perfect choise, especially if you play fps games thanks to the 160hz + smaller screen your eyes have to check. Those 42” in a small desk setup are just too much.
