Hands-on review of the LG C8 OLED 4k HDR TV
Full review: www.rtings.com...
The LG C8 OLED is a great TV, with impressive picture quality especially when viewed in a dark room. It is great for those with wide seating as the image remains accurate at an angle.
Model tested: 55” (OLED55C8PUA)
www.amazon.com...
Should also be valid for the 65” (OLED65C8PUA) and 77” (OLED77PUA).

Just bought a 65" C8 and I love it. There are tools and practices available to avoid burn in, so that really wasn't a concern for me. I mainly wanted the contrast since I have a dedicated, light controlled theater room. The C8 is dropping in price now, so there will be great deals for the rest of its run. By the way, I love your videos! Your body movements seem almost robotic in a way, which is kind of cute, actually.

@@xDemonxNero146x There is a menu option (I can't remember what it is right now, but it's easy to find) built into LG OLED TVs that, when turned on, slightly shifts pixels every so often to mitigate burn in. Also, you can simply avoid displaying static images for more than an hour. Reducing the brightness setting as low as possible is also very helpful. I have my TV in a totally dark room, so I have the brightness turned all the way down, but if yours will be in a brighter room, this may not be possible. Also, if you notice burn in starting to occur, like from a station logo for example, you should change to a non static program and play it for a an hour or so, then turn the TV off for an hour or so. Then it should be fine when you turn it back on. The bottom line is that you should always avoid displaying static images for more than an hour, being mindful of TV station logos. If you do this, you won't have any problem.

@@dlg5485 So the C8's shit for gaming as nearly all games have static HUD's (Heads up displays). Dk whether to go for the C8 or Q9F for my Xbox One X. I'll be playing games like Red Dead and Forza that both have static HUD's

Looked everywhere to see if the bezel/edge on the C8 had any light or LG logo, this video has a perfectly clear shot at 1:09 confirming its a nice clean line with no logo, bump or central feature of any kind, just as I’d hoped, thank-you to the camera operator and lighting staff for this 👍

I'd love to see mention of the inputs on the TV in future reviews, I have a lot of old consoles and it's getting really hard to find a TV that supports them, they rarely support composite, component and/or analogue coax, and often those that do have very poor scaling or massive input lag. Also I have a LOT of newer consoles and video devices so knowing the number of HDMI ports would also be helpful.

You have not talked about the new alpha 9 processor which is supposed to (according to LG) improve the upscale and picture processing. And I don't understand your argument about LED TV for bright room and OLED for a dark room. To me, in both situations, the OLED looks better. I've seen a C8 and a Samsung Q9F side by side in a very bright TV store and in another store with less light, same conclusion OLED picture quality is better imo.

@dlg5485

LCDs are 3 times brighter, on average, than OLEDs so they should be better suited for bright rooms. I wouldn't say they look "better" but rather are better suited to the environment. I chose the LG C8 OLED because I have a theater room with no ambient light, but had I been using a room with tons of light spilling in, I would have chosen the Samsung QLED. You also have to remember that shops adjust their display TVs to full brightness setting specifically because the environment is so bright. You simply would not use those settings at home. If you did, your OLED wouldn't last very long.

04.10.31 was a hopeless update - it made the Quad Step Noise Reduction launched on the 2018 OLEDs (and the reason why I bought the TV) stop working. The colour banding used to be virtually non existent but is now terrible and makes the TV virtual unwatchable at times. LG called me on 16th April and confirmed that they are aware of the major error in 04.10.31 (Quad Step Noise Reduction inactivated) and are about to release a fix for it imminently.

Thank you for your Review. It was very helpful for my decision of buying a TV. I loved my C8. The picture is great. But now I'm very angry about the update politics of LG. The software, esp. updates, are part of the core of a modern TV. The update politics should be part of the Test. And if it is like in the case of LG, that after one year, there are no more serious update (like VRR etc.) without no reason (c8 and c9 nearly the same hardware!?), you should decrease the test result of this tv.

Sorry ratings but I disagree with your findings of the LG OLED C8 having been a owner of an LG OLED E8 which you're probably aware is the exactly same processor (Alpha 9 1st generation). I've owned the E8 for over 5 months and on average I've streamed on average 2 movies a day since ownership (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google etc) but I must stress the only content I've ever watched has been streamed. About 10 to 15% of the time the blacks are so bad I may as well get up walk into the bedroom and start watching on my Sony 4k LED Android tv instead. I'm absolutely gutted because that is practically the only reason why I purchased the LG E8 is because I wanted that cinematic experience, I even went out and purchased the black blinds with black curtains to make sure it is as dark as possible in my room, don't get me wrong over 85% of the time the picture is absolutely gorgeous but there are times when I'm watching HD content that is so bad it's like watching something from the 90s . Sometimes when I press pause and then play again there's no sound and so what I found works is by pressing the Netflix button or the opposite and press the Amazon button to reestablish the connection and if you're thinking of Wi-Fi in the LG B8 or C8 it's absolutely nightmare . Dropped connection at least a couple of times a week . Plus the buttons don't always work the first time. Also I have an extremely fast Virgin Media broadband I assumed the poor quality in picture is due to the Wi-Fi . So I went through a lot of trouble to get the TV hard-wired, I know I have all my wires up correctly because I have Dolby vision come up on my TV and Dolby Atmos comes up on my AV receiver, my Sony LED Android TV might be slow and clunky but it does exactly what it's supposed to do every single time 'absolutely Flawless', now I know why you pay more for Sony, it's called 'Quality'.!

Rtings there appears to be an issue with 2018 LG OLEDs when displaying near-black colors. All of their OLEDs from 2018 have a flashing issue when the tv tries to display very dim colors and it’s pretty noticeable. Check out this example at 11:22: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gdB_ldtekrXVaJs.html What do you know about this? Is there a way to fix it or a reason it’s happening, and how does it change your recommendation? I am currently in the market for an OLED.

officialpartychannel nope! I’m happy with my A1e. Would have been pissed if they made huge upgrades haha.

Tired of hearing about OLED burn in. I have the E6 for 2 years and no burn in what so ever. Give it up already.

like he said it depends on what you watch i have a b6 2years old now going on 3 and i have burn in from one game out of the many i play this game left an imprint from where the health globe would be. in other words just cause you dont have a problem doesnt mean it doesnt exist.... mind you i play this game alot more than my other ones but im also more careful with my tv than most try not to leave it on a scene to long and have custom wallpapers that change every minute and no static icons on screen except when playing a game, i even do the pixel refresh thing (it doesnt help).

for me as a PC user, ABL is still a no-go. Did they minimized this problem compared to the 7th Gen. ?

How it will look like if wall mount? Is there speakers in the base? What happen with this base if wall mount?

Then curved base will help the TV to direct the audio to you. You can actually wall mount it and the stand will be deemed as useless.
