I can't believe I lived for ~4 years watching the timer go down to t-1 just to be able to shut the damn thing off before it woke the entire neighbourhood. It's 2023, bought it in 2018 - for the 1 year difference i had bought an owen that clearly stated in its manual how to turn off the sound. Now this. I feel cheated but relieved. You sir, deserve some beers!
@vudi20242 жыл бұрын
Thank you, sir! I bought this model partly because it had the least-noisy 'clunk' when closing the door. Imagine my reaction to a 'feature' that added an annoying noise that apparently couldn't be muted. Solid contribution to useful info, imo.

I have the same model that I bought 6 months ago - on mine it's the "clear" button and the "auto reheat" button (for mine.... not the sensor cook - sensor cook and clear did something funny with my microwave where it counted down 10x faster than normal so 1 minute becomes only a few seconds... very odd). Another video I saw was again the same model but I think in brazil and on his it was the Clear button and the button just above and to the left of the Time/Weight (were "Timer/Clock" is on yours/mine). His was labeled something else though...... Regardless, thank the GODS I found this video and was able to get my sounds turned off. Many thanks Matt! Why they would be different..... who in the world knows, esp for the same model. Most manufacturers use the same key combo across all their microwaves. Why LG not only does not advertise/list this as a feature, and even denies that it has this ability on Best Buy.... god knows man. I spent many more months than necessary looking for a microwave because I couldn't find one that was both reliable and that could be silenced (sorry Sharp, you can be silenced (Toshiba too) but you have just too many reviews of your buttons breaking and electric arcs during normal use)

Thanks for the info on how to silence your model. This info should be included in all user manuals.

Maybe mentioned elsewhere in the comments, but in case note: On my 0.9 cu ft model (LMC0975XX) which doesn’t have a Sensor Cook button, some trial and error led me to hold down Clear + Auto Reheat and it worked like a charm.

Yes, all microwave instructions warn against turning them on with nothing in them. Some even have a feature that won’t turn on if you haven’t recently opened the door. My GE does that but this LG does not.
@gary7vn Жыл бұрын
@@makermatt From Quora: Will operating a microwave oven while empty damage the equipment? Daniel Pearce Was Quality Director for ACP (Accelerated Cooking Products)The answer is most certainly yes. It won't happen in the first 30 seconds, it won't happen in the first minute. Typically you can even run a microwave for 2-3 minutes, sometimes longer while empty (no load) and it will be fine. This is what happens when you run it without a load. At first, everything is fine because the cavity, the door, the tray (or shelf) absorb the excess energy. Things will start to get hot, but it's not critical yet. After a few minutes, something will start to get really hot and the excess energy? It starts reflecting back into the magnetron (the device that provides the microwave energy) and that starts to heat up too. If it is designed well enough, it will trip a thermal fuse before anything actually breaks. The thermal fuse can be resettable, but usually not. You will need to replace this fuse if the oven no longer works. If the oven is designed poorly, you'll experience what is called "thermal runaway". At this point, some random location in the oven will begin to superheat. And by super heat, I mean hot enough to liquefy porcelain. This will continue until something finally gives out. It could be a breaker tripping, a standard fuse blowing, or in the worst case, the insulation on the wiring or the plastic components might literally burst into flames consuming everything flammable until the oven finally loses power.

The way it’s evident from all the KZfaq videos that everyone collectively hates this childish tune, on an otherwise excellent microwave, yet the spiteful LG engineers decided it’s worth it to invest in creating this sound over a normal beeper/chime. At the very least, provide the option of a normal beep and the ability to switch it off completely right from the manual.
