I'm on my second one now and still have the yellow hue issue.... Hdr is just a yellow hue.. no color at all.. looks horrible. First one had two stuck pixels and really really bad yellow hue and the second one so far no stuck pixels but still a yellow hue.... Hate playing the lg panel lottery... Quality control is the absolute worst from lg.... I read up it took one guy 6 times to get a panel that was correct with no dead / stuck pixels and no color issues.. And what is even worse about this all is that lg does not let you adjust the colors in hdr mode. You only get brightness and sharpness and every single other option in greyed out... Lg has dropped the ball big time on this monitor.... I hate the osd and wish i could bypass or find a way to and unlock every setting because a $1,000 monitor should allow you to adjust anything you want and not be limited like a $200.00 budget monitor usually is... My aorus f127q has every single feature unlocked and allows me to dial in my colors perfectly. Being its a premium monitor like lg's is supposed to be i appreciate that they allow me to dial in my colors and make me feel like i got a good deal... Lg is a long way from perfect and I hate aorus doesn't make a ips ultra wide.... Otherwise i would go aorus in a heartbeat.

It depends on the game. In some games you have to activate hdr in windows or it wont show up in the settings.

When i connected with hdmi though, hdr became available, albeit on 85hz limit. Upon turning it on in Doom, the whole color scheme became green. Not sure whats that about, but at least it didnt tell me that the monitor didnt support hdr anymore.

@@BandH Somebody who has those types of monitors told me that it does that while on HDR to brighten light areas and making it more bright and pronounced. Im sure if you go on HDR mode, first of all the "Smart Energy savings" option will be grayed out and I want you to look at videos that are dark on KZfaq in full screen and watch it for a couple of seconds then minimize the video again where you are at the comment section and you will begin to see that the brightness slightly starts to come back in succession.

The software comes with the monitor. It's really well done. You can set up profiles for individual programs even that switch the built-in monitor modes as per your setup.

Plus this monitor just blows the 40inch 4k out of the park. I want another one lol but not necessary. Great monitor upgrade for me. I have mine mounted on an arm, didnt use the stand.

HDR sucks on monitors that are built for gaming.You'll never get the brightness and Darkness to look right and everything will look washed out and over exposed. HDR is just a gimmick. Its great on higher end TVs I guess but on a gaming monitor...eh don't care.

The official price was $900 but they increased the price to 999$ due to corona virus. Don't expect the monitor to reduce in price till probably next year. Even with Jacked up price the monitor is been sold out.

@@BandH i am on display port, i didn't mention it. anyway i found what was the problem, i got scammed. bought a 34gn850, and received a 34gk950f with rear sticker serial and external box of a 34gn850, that's why i don't have overclock menù and the ability to use it at 160hz. im btw really impressed about the quality and performance of this 34gk950f, wich i used it with g-synch, and paired with a 2080 is just so smooth , a real pleasure for the eyes. that said. im still returning it, and getting the 34gn850, by the end of this week :D

@@blond_slut I was torn between these two monitors as well. I have a 2070 Super MSI. So not to worried about gpu. I love the way the Alienware looks. but it is 120hz over clocked and native 100hz and a little more expensive. That being said I'm coming from a 4k 60hz monitor so ethier will look amazing to me. But I just opted for cheaper with more hz which is the LG that rest at 144hz and overclocks to 160hz. I think both monitors are great tho.

Not sure what LG will actually cover and how difficult their hoops are to jump through, but it may be worth it for some. There are many different levels of actual HDR performance from a display. HDR10 is the overall standard. Despite some groups such as VESA trying to develop a certification scheme to take control of this and develop some standards. VESA DisplayHDR 400 is for screens which can reach 400 cd/m2 peak brightness, HDR 600 for those that can reach 600 cd/m2 and so forth. VESA Display HDR levels (400, 600, 1000, etc.) are sub-levels within the HDR10 standard. They were created primarily so that budget monitors could conform with HDR10 in some way, even if they couldn't fully offer HDR support. Peak brightness of at least 400 cd/m2 - this isn’t actually much beyond what a “normal” screen can offer, which are typically 300 - 350 cd/m2 anyway. It’s also nowhere near the higher peak luminance that the main HDR10 and Dolby Vision (and other) content is mastered to. >Mark

@@yoyotanvir No you didn't get it. HDR10 is the standard specification. You can find monitors from 400 to 1000 (true HDR) nits which is what determines the HDR quality.

Lack of a propper GPU I would imagine .. He is also promoting the HDR which looks terrible @ 400 nits. Go watch "Hardware unboxed" instead .. They actually do a really good job with their reviews.

I have no way of measuring it, but it's ridiculously fast and compared to my old Acer Z35: no ghosting at all. The Z35 had better blacks because it has a VA panel. Not a huge difference, but obviously I am noticing it, but other than that the LG here is vastly superior. I had to deal with all sorts of issues on UW monitors in the past. Ghosting, backlight bleeding, too slow, burn-in... but as far as I can see, the LG did away with all of that. Can't say for sure about burn-in because I haven't had it for that long. We'll see.

@Kylo Ren Tell that to my LCD which has a permanent taskbar imprint that doesn't vanish anymore. Pixel fatigue is a form of burn-in.

I heard that about LG. Many said the support is non-existent so everyone is on their own. This is why I prefer to buy from BestBuy with the Geek Squad no questions asked 4 year warranty. They swap out the monitor for a brand new one if you have any problems with it.

I have this montir and im on my second one already.. First one had two stuck pixels and a really nasty yellow hue. Second one has no stuck pixels but a still a bad yellow hue "not as bad as the first one" Hdr is worthless because it just displays a yellow hue over any of the 4 hdr modes and what makes it even worse is that LG does not allow you to adjust colors or anything in hdr mode. You can only adjust brightness and sharpness and that's it. So hdr is just worthless when you look at a nasty yellow screen.... A $1,000 monitor with no adjustment is a slap in the face to the consumers. My aorus f127q 27" 1440pp 165hz allows me to do whatever i want to the picture or settings in either srgb or hdr mode. Its a premium monitor and it makes you feel like you purchased a premium monitor. I'll never buy another lg monitor again.. I f'ing hate this monitor with all my heart and it's just a $1,000 scam.. If aorus would make a ips ultra wide i would buy it in a heartbeat. I'm going to return my second lg and just wait for a decent ultrawide. I can't find any for under $1,000 worth buying sadly...

That's entirely subjective. Personally, I prefer curved displays even if you compromise stupid high refresh rate, usually, response time, some srgb colour accuracy, you lose a couple hundred nits depending on the display, and some inconsistent back light bleed in corners etc. HDR is also pretty iffy on these displays, but worst is you'll obviously see reviews where people receive the product with dead pixels, and for such a price premium I can see why most sensible buyers would shy away from curved displays. That said, I find curved displays, especially at this width, feel larger than they actually are, and to be honest, I think this monitor has struck a perfect balance between gaming performance / picture clarity while jammed into a curved display. Compared to Asus's offerings that provide this refresh rate at another $500 on-top, I'm pretty chuffed with what LG has managed to deliver at this price point.
