Thank you for the video! Helped me to replace that charge port for much less than any of the local shops were asking. Yours must have been disassembled already though, I had a lot more glue under the charge port, but was able to get it out. Thanks again!!!

Thanks for the video man. I watched this because I was curious what it would take to replace a front screen / glass.. All of the screen protectors I bought and tried kept causing touch sensitivity issues so I said screw it.. I know at some point the glass will be scratched up good. Nicest phone I've ever owned.

Battery IS held in with something like butyl rubber... sticky and possibly destructive if not heated first. Heat up a sock with rice in the microwave for a few minutes and let the phone sit on it for a bit. Battery comes up with a little constant pressure.
@blackntan150
@blackntan150 3 жыл бұрын
By the way, for a battery replacement, you can stop at 3:04. After you get the battery disconnected, just heat up the phone behind the battery to loosen the butyl. Constant pressure to get unstuck, and pop out the battery.

after you removed the back glass and the plastic cover exposing the main board, you can try n disconnect the cable and heat up the front of the screen and try prying off the screen, but It would be difficult putting the new screen back and passing the screen cable through the midframe without removing the main board first since there is very little room to work with for passing the cable through the midframe.

can you remove the battery without removing the main board. My Charging port broke so I'm looking to replace that but might as well replace the battery as well
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
You can, but it would give you very little room to pry the battery off. You don't want to bend too much or stab the battery or else it can short n catch fire. Also if you want to replace the charger port flex, you need to remove the main board to disconnect the cable that is attached under the main board.

If you damaged the sim reader pins inside the sim tray, it won't detect a sim. They are fragile and can break if you stick a tool in there or a sim the wrong way etc.

hi, greeting from Indonesia. thanks for the great video so i know how to disassembly my V40. i have a problem with PC connection, when i plug the USB to PC it not detected but the charging and fast charging was normal. try to swap the cable it still not work. same on another PC. also i have an issue with the main camera. when move focus to another object many times the camera was hang and the picture freeze. but with wide camera its normal without any issue. before i think because the wide and main camera was on different module but after seen your video its look the camera was on same component. do you have any idea? thanks for your time

Hi, as far as PC connection, make sure you have downloaded the LG usb drivers and installed them on your computer so it would detect the phone. You can try this website: www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-mobile-drivers-and-software-CT10000027-20150179827560 . As for the camera, it could be a bad or blurry lens cover or bad camera itself causing that to happen. Not 100% sure.

Hello, I wonder how much heat/time is needed to blow the phone so the back plate can be removed. Is it possible to remove the plate without heat gun? or a a hair dryer could do? I'm so afraid of frying the battery XD
@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer to use a hair dryer as well since a heat gun is too much direct heat and I am more comfortable using the hair dryer for more even heat spread. You don't need to over do it, just evenly heat up the back with the hair dryer so its hot to the touch and then you can also use a suction tool for smartphones to help you pull up and gain leverage between the back and the frame to get a pry tool in between.

To change only the camera glass, is it necessary to remove the back cover?
@PBKreviews

If you are replacing just the glass portion, it should be held on with just adhesive, you can heat it up and pry it off. But if you are replacing the entire lens assembly cover (which is the part from the other side of the back plate/battery door), then you will have to remove the back plate first.

Did your phone get very hot sometime before this? When did your phone turned off and at what percentage was its battery charged when it turned off? If there had been an overheating issue or if the charger wasn't fast charging anymore then its possible that the main chip-set on logic board has short circuited. My own V40's chip-set has sort circuited the same way and I'm trying really hard to find a new logic board but the country where I live in, LG does not officially distribute their devices so I'd have to order one from Ali Express or Amazon maybe. But the most worrying thing is all the data on the phone was not backed up on my google account and with logic board dead, I won't ever be able to retrieve it. What a bummer!

You would probably have to take apart the entire phone to be able to see if you can fix it. Not sure if the button itself is stuck or the clicker on the inside got damaged or broke out of its place. If I am not mistaken, you need to not only take the back off but the front screen as well to gain access to the buttons (that also increases the chance of breaking your screen by prying it off).

@PBKreviews
@PBKreviews 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure why I have to show how exactly to remove a battery in every video, its always the same. Just apply some heat to loosen the adhesive, then use a pry tool to carefully pry off the battery I mean what else is there to it? its not rocket science. If you can't figure that part out, you should not even be attempting the repair honestly. Reason I say it is because there are people who will damage all the parts trying to get down to the battery only to find out after replacing the battery they broke 10 resistors or cut 2 flex cables trying to replace a battery. Easiest way again to remove the battery, apply gentle heat to warm the battery a bit and the frame so the adhesive is loosened, then use a plastic pry tool preferably a membership card that is flat and can maneuver under the battery and just take your time prying it off so you don't bend or warp the battery too much. If your replacing the battery you don't really care if you warp it here and there since your replacing it. But you don't want to risk piercing the cells to cause it to flare up and so forth.

what didn't work? they sell the back plates online so just breaking your back plate does not mean your phone is bricked.

Never buy LG V40 ThingQ. It's a rubbish product. It's also a lot of trash. There are ridges at the end of the liquid crystal and bezel, so it's very ugly to attach liquid information film.

lmfao.. those are not antenna, it is two colored plastics and that is not the connector for the flash, it is the connector for the wireless charging pad, the only flash related thing in the wireless charging pad it the flash lens lol

First off, its not just two colored plastics lol so don't laugh so quickly since what you said is totally wrong. Try not putting those plastic pieces on and see how poor your signal will be. Those lines are drawn out on the plastic for a reason, they didn't just put them there for no reason. They act as antennas and make different connections through the board if you look underneath you will see they touch gold contacts on the board where they lay down onto. Trust me your totally wrong about what you said so ya. But for the wireless charging pad your right it was a mistake on our part but it is the connector for the wireless charging pad not the flash.
