Does just sound boost make pk5 louder or is it overall louder after new firmware and at the end is it loud enough compered to soundcore motio plus

Thanks for the audio comparison. For me Audio comparison is important for a speaker review. I know it's not good but at least we still can hear the difference. It will be better if the original track is also included.

Yes it's a decent step up from the PK3 sound wise but with the extra bulk ...

Wonderful review but I’m wondering whether it’s written in the script that you are supposed to talk this fast, you were really in a hurry.

Try reducing the playback speed to 0.75x - KZfaq does a good job on this. And you can enable captions - I have full transcripts for every video. Hope that helps.

Did you see an AptX HD logo when you paired to your phone? i would assume the sound quality would be dramatic compared to the very lossy SBC default. this is the only series that has this high quality codec, which intrigues me, especially with lossless files like FLAC.

iOS devices don't support aptX - but did test on an Android phone too which does support aptX. I wouldn't say the difference is dramatic with a speaker like this, but you might notice it depending on what you're listening to.

Hey man! very insightful review as always, I was just wondering would I be able to run two pk5s in stereo or twin mode if I connect one pk5 to my PC via 3.5mm and then pair it with the pair button to the other wireless pk5, without plugging that one as well? I asked LG and their customer service had no idea what I even meant sadly.

Thank you garn100! I think the wireless pairing will only work if you connect wirelessly - but if I get a chance I'll try and double check ...

Which speakers do you recommend in the $100-$15o range? The Anker Soundcore Motion+ or Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3? Or any other ones like the LG XBoom Go PK5?

I've not tried the UE yet - but good suggestion thanks. Tough choice between Anker and LG though - sound-wise I'm sure you'd be happy with either - I'd look at the features etc I go over in the review.

Do you happen to know if this speaker will work with google assistant by choosing a local radio station like other Google Assistant smart speakers? For example can I ask it "Hey Google play 106.1 on TuneIn" will it bring in local stations?

It's using Google Assistant off your phone - it doesn't have any assistant built it. So if that works via your phone, this will be streamed via Bluetooth to the speaker ...

Yes if you want a permanent wireless stereo setup there are much better options.

Can you compare de jbl flip 4 vs the lg pk5? I am not interested in the jbl flip 5 as it does not have 3.5 jack connectivity.

Thank you very much for replying. I went to store and tested the pk5, it was not too good. I ended up getting the sony srs-xb21 which sounds quite better for me and it was a little cheaper, almost at the same price.

I only have the Flip 4 - but that's quite comparable to the PK5 - probably a little brighter. But the PK5 I'd say has a slightly wider range.

Sorry - do you mean powered - or connected to each other? You shouldn't really leave battery based speakers like this plugged in permanently - it tends to degrade the batteries.

@@TheTechnologyMan oh so they can't be connected permanently. Do you think the Mackie freeplay go is better than lg pk 5? And from your review I feel the pk 3 sounds better than the pk 5.is that right?

You can - just the battery may die quicker. Sorry don't know about the Mackie Freeplay.
