This is a video of how I managed to mount a 280mm AIO radiator on the Lian Li O11 Air mini, to make room for the RTX 4090.

Well this is great. About to attempt something similar tomorrow. Curious couldn’t you fit the rad and fans in the front? Trying to have the hose at the top.

I have the same case and made the same mistake of buying full atx motherboard and now purchased 280 rad. Was looking at doing exactly what you did. I think it would be better if you completely remove the front fans at this point. Nice job.

The Lian Li Vertical mount blocks too much air and takes up quite a bit of space , you could use a £12 5-6 slot one to lower the card. Looks good though.

As a "Mechanical Maintenance" guy I always have to do it for almost everything I buy ! Modifying and making changes because there is always something missing in Factory products... I enjoyed this video much more because I wanted to do the same but I didn't find reliable information on the internet so, Thank you very very much for sharing this with people

If you mounted the radiator with the AIO cables up top instead of bottom would you still have to drill/sand down the space for them to fit? I have the same case and thinking of doing the same thing you did.

Yes you would. Plus the radiator tank with the hose connections is a bit larger, so you need to check if it will have enough clearance with the case IO panel cables.

An incredible job! One question, how wide is the secondary chamber? I would like to know if making your modification I could place the arctic radiator that measures 38 mm wide, I have searched and the z63 radiator measures 30mm. Thank you!

I'm not sure about the width, but I also managed to put a couple of slim 120mm fans on the outside of the radiator. It barely fits.

@@diypcjapan9617So in theory the arctic radiator would fit. If the slim fans with 1cm fit, there shouldn't be any problem with 0,8cm 😅. Thank you.

What was the reasoning of using 120mm in the end? Just bought this case and trying to plan fittings, also what size drill bit did you use

The 140mm ones will not fit because of how tight the spot is with the bolts coming from the front panel. Also almost 30% of the radiator area is now closed by the case frame. No way to make a normal fit, thats why such ghetto mode with poor performance is used. I also bought this case, also drilled just to find out that I would also have to remove the central frame for the 140mm fans to be able to push enough air... Useless idea, better get a O11 EVO case, which I'm going to do now.

Not convinced there's much point if you didn't remove a lot more of the panel. The 140mm fans are blocked on the sides and limited to the same area a 120mm fan would be, except they are not optimized like a high pressure 120mm would be...

I'm not sure but do you not potentially get air bubbles in the pump mounting the radiator that way around? would it not be better if the tubes pointed towards the top of the case?....maybe its not important..................... some time later....I checked and my logic was wrong. what you have done is correct..

I can't tell for sure. Just check your GPUs length plus your Rad's thickness. That's usually pretty accurate.

definitely yes, i have tuf 3070 and it's a lot shorter then my msi ventus 4080 (3x fan both). and arctic 280 + 4080 still have gap about 3-4 mm

I'll actually be using a dremel to do this tomorrow on a new Air mini build with an H115i 280mm side-mounted AIO, Pipes up top though. Will just cut a small section out and drill extra holes will do the trick.

I wish to ask you if can i do it with ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280??? The Radiator thickness is (38mm) and the NZXT Radiator is (26mm) Can you give us a measure from the mounting bracket point and the endpoint of the possible space? I would be so much appreciated

I don't think it will fit a 38mm thick radiator at all. The NZXT 26mm one barely fit.

@@diypcjapan9617 Thanks for responding my friend :) Actually I couldn't wait and I made a 3D model of the components I was about to use and I found out that the radiator be out for 7mm! yes, it won't fit :)) That made me change my case completely cause I need to work for long hours and cooling is very important for me. I'm have air mini + 4080 (which 322 mm) + arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 and final space between card and radiator is 3-4mm. front mount radiator ofcourse

Just wondering if using some 90 degree adapters for the cables would then allow you to have kept the radiator in the main compartment? I am still waiting on parts to arrive but so far have completed modding my case with the aim to have the radiator in the front and the fans on the back. I’m quite keen to have the radiator visible as I like the look.

I think you could potentially mount the radiator in front and the fans on the back without cutting or drilling, assuming you find other means to holding them in place. The power cable openings would still not be blocked.
